Hi

I was reading a forum on the biggest loser website & there are quite a few people who are doing TF & taking duromine to aid weight-loss.

I got my prescription from the doctor today & will start taking them tomorrow. I just want to know how you are finding the side effects.

Thanks in advance

Hmmm...  I going to play a bit of 'bad cop' here.  DONT TAKE DUROMINE!!!!   It is just the drug 'speed' in disguise, that's why it's banned in so many countries.  TF should be enough on it's own for you to lose weight.

Sorry, but i had terrible experiences with it so I'm a bit 'anti-duromine'.  I am one of those people who have no side effects to anything, ever, but on duromine I had an increased heart rate, pains in my abdomen and ovaries, no sleep, constant thirst, dry mouth and headaches.  Not to mention how hard it was to 'wean' myself off it.

I'm even surprised your doctor gave you a script for it as you're quite close to your goal weight.  They are meant to prescribe it to people only with lots of weight to lose.

Please be careful and if you must take it, try and stick to the lowest dosage.

I had a close friend put on them years ago for a weight issue, she was so hooked on them if was scarey, I even had to take care of her kids for a while as she had to be detoxed and weaned off them, it sped up everything she did including her blood pressure and then depression in/out, it was like a nerrygoround, never want to see anyone go through that EVER again, it just isn't worth it....please research before you take them, ask questions, they are dangerous....

My mother took them about once a year for a month to help with weight loss and she got most of the symptoms (dry mouth, not sleeping, headaches) but that didn't put her off because it was a once a year thing for her. Anyway for months i went to few doctors to get it for myself PRE TF and no doctor would prescribe it... It's way too dangerous with the side effects. I'm very suprised your doctor gave you a script You don't have that much weight to lose so please don't take them, they do more harm than good in the long run. I'm glad i never got the script as i did an internet search and read the horrific stories, showed my mum and she has been free off this aweful medicine for 3 years. TF is all you need.

I took Duromine for about 3 weeks a while ago, I went to the doctor with headaches and about a thousand other problems and found that my blood pressure was sitting on 220/180 and was on the verge of having a stroke. I would never ever take Duromine again in my life.

It's just speed in a nice shiny packet. I would not recommend anyone take it ever and to be honest I don't know why on earth your doctor gave it to you, I would never trust a doctor who would prescribe me that, hence why I don't see my old doctor anymore  You are so close to goal so I'm sure you will get there without those horrible tablets. You've done so well already, you don't need those nasties.

Hello,

Been there and done that! I've tried quite a few things to try and lose weight and I have to say this was one of the bad decisions I made.

My doc prescribed Duromine to my mum and I about 4 years ago. I wasn't so big at that stage but I trusted him to give me the best alternative. The pack contained about 60 pills and cost about $90.00. I took 2 pills a day. I have to admit that it really worked for me, I was no longer hungry which was a good thing, but I wasn't thirsty either. Soon I was expriencing some kidney pain and stomach aches. I knew it was something to do with Duromine but I refused to stop taking it becase I was seeing results. My mum had a personality change...she was constantly on edge and was snapping at my dad at every opportunity and this caused a lot of fights. In the end, dad had to tell mum to stop taking these tablets or he was leaving...it got really bad. She wasn't affected much physically as I was, but she became a completely different person.

After a while I could no longer afford to pay for the pills and stopped taking them. I'd lost about 20 kg but I was also in pain at the same time. Once I stopped, I went back to normal and I also gained all my weight back - with GST! LOL
