| | Sammy you have had a stressful time lately - it is not surprising that you are struggling. Talking all this out with someone who doesn't know what has been happening could help a lot. Doesn't have to be a counsellor as such sometimes offloading with someone 'new' is very theraputic. You have lost so much as everyone has said, but you so close to double digits. If you focus and take your journey a day at a time you will be in double digits soon and that will give you a huge lift. Take care Sammy and good luck.

Thanks for the lovely blinkies Mally!

| Hey Sammymac
I can really sympathise with how you're feeling. We started loosing weight at about the same time, so I always keep an eye out for your weigh ins, as you've really been a big motivator to me. Especially in the beginning! If you lost a certain amount one week then I'd make it my aim to lose the same amount (quite often impossible with your great losses! Although it gave me something to focus on!)
I know that personally I'm worried that I won't reach goal, and that what's worse, if I do reach goal, I'll just fall into bad habits again.
I find myself binging sometimes, and it's really not healthy. Like you, I've gone great guns in the first few months and lost quite a bit, but then the past 2 months have been very slow going...I know I could go much much much better!
I think because we lost so much so quickly, there's that pressure put on us (from ourselves no less!) to keep up the massive losses and get to goal very quickly. I almost think that some weeks I choked - I couldn't handle the pressure of losing so much so quickly.
Also, I'm worried that post-Tf I wont be able to stay on the straight and narrow. And I've come to realise that if I keep this pressure on myself then I most certainly wont be able to! I'm still quite young, so I go out on weekends, and I used to be so hard on myself if I was naughty (having normal wine instead of dry, or whatever), but now I realise that it's just a part of my life and I need to make my diet suit that. I don't mean that I scoff down whole pizzas or anything with my mates (like they do!) but if I am a little naughty then I don't beat myself up about it - I take away the pressure. And yeah, I think it's definitely helped me with my mindset.
This is about a lifestyle change, not a race to lose as much as possible every week. So maybe you need to stop looking at the numbers so closely (sneaking weigh ins etc) and start looking at the bigger picture? Although, sneaking weigh ins is helpful for keeping on track on days where it gets hard (if I'm craving something bad - at the moment it's a tin of spaghetti, random i know! -I do weigh in at home to remind myself of how awesome I've been going and that the treat - the spaghetti - is not worth it...and yeah, it helps).
Anyways, the point of this long rant is that you need to stop putting so much pressure on yourself and if you just take everything as it comes then I'm sure you'll do fabulously.

Jessicah

| I agree with Jessicah! could not have said it better myself! and Sammy, although I don't have a wedding coming up (Yes I've been reading around the forum! lol congrats ), I still put so much pressure on myself. I have some 27kgs to go and as I loose weight I keep having to remind myself that all will not be lost if I don't loose all the weight within the 6 month period! *sigh*Btw, I totally sympathize with you for sneaking in a weigh in. I have digi scales at home and I take a look every other day!! I have to tell you, it is NOT good all the time! sometimes the weight goes up (understandably after I've eaten something, which makes me wonder why I do it anyway?) lol anyways, sorry for this somewhat pointles post! good luck and Congrats again! and also congrats for the 1.8 kg loss!!

| | Thankyou everyone for your well thought out replies! I do sneak weighs every other day, just to make sure I'm on track! I reckon if I hadn't weighed today, and seen my amazing loss, I probably would have snuck one of my mans KFC chips! I think that weighing in keeps me focused! I'm not trying to lose 'as much as possible' every week.. I'm just wanting to make sure I get to goal on time.. Thankfully, I am on target so far! |
