Suggestions>

Second, I'm a little self conscious about how I look (I'm SURE I'm not alone there). Especially when I'm all sweaty and flushed. Plus when I run "the girls" really jump around - does anyone have a solution for that or do you just push through it?

I know I'm being silly but these are the things that are on my mind. I really like the idea of getting fit with me weight loss journey and it's been my ideal that I would join a gym anyway to tone up and I figured, why not now?

Dance Dance Revolution

I have just had my first go at DDR on PlayStation 2, it was heaps of fun! But when it comes to my partner, the last thing I want to do is tell him how much I weigh :(

So the manual says the Wii Fit is only meant for people who weigh under 150kgs. Well, I don't fall into that category, so now I have to try and make up a reason for not using it. So far he's asked me several times if I like it, and if I've had a go, or if I want to have a go while he's having a break or something. So far I've said I only want to use it by myself because I'm too embarassed.....

Without telling him I'm too much of a F#%^$ing lard *** to use his present, what else can I tell him?

Can you tell I'm upset? I have not been to this gym since Ferbruary (!!!!!) but now that I have lost a fair bit of weight, thought it would be good to start toning.

I had my assessment, and from the sheet I could see that since my last assessment quite some time ago, I had lost approx 20kgs and quite alot of centremetres all over.

I found it really odd that the girl didnt even comment on that. I thought it was a pretty good acheivement and to not even say "Wow you have lost a fair few centimetres" or "You've improved since your last assessment" I thought was odd.

We then got into the program having known that I had not been to the gym in several months, she made an extremely difficult program which we went through. On one or two machines, I felt the weights were too high and I was struggling to literally even do 5. I explained this to her when she asked how the weights were but it was basically bad luck and thats the way it was going to be.

Shortly afterwards she was showing me something which I then did, but could only do a few of. I was starting to feel very ill and quite upset as I literally got to the point where I wasnt just saying it, i just COULDNT do any more. But would she listen?

I know some people like this approach but afterwards i was so upset. I think the gyms should listen to their clients. When i go next, ill lower the weights slightly until i get used to being back in the gym. I find it very discouraging when people do this, as it kind of makes you not want to go back, so I understand why so many people sign up and then dont go!

Sorry, rant over - I was just annoyed that she woudlnt even take my legitimate feelings or thoughts into concern.

Thanks guys.

Morning fitness

I am a year 2/3 primary school teacher and I am currently teaching out in the Mid West of Western Australia.

This year has been a challenging one for me in more ways than one. Over this year unfortunately the weight has crept back on (however I have taken stock, and today has been day 1 .. its been good so far)

I had a 'light bulb' moment last night whilst cooking dinner for hubby.

Every week I concentrate on a value that is important in everyday life (manners, self control etc) this week it was 'respect'. I was pouring over my books preparing last night preparing for my Friday learning session when I remember mentioning to my students,

"You must also show respect to yourself. This can be through eating a healthy diet and exercising ..."

So I said to myself, "Gee. I have to set a positive example .. from here on in I am going to join in the best I can with their 15 minute daily morning fitness!"

Today I did just that. I went for a run with them this morning as a warm up. I intend to keep this up for the rest of the school year.

... oh and this weekend. .. I want to, I set my alarm the night before and get my gym clothes ready, but can not seem to do it.

This morning I turned the alarm off and went straight back to sleep until my son's alarm woke me, yesterday, well I just had a better offer. But I get so angry with myself. My alarm is set for 5am which gives me plenty of time to get to the gym, come home have my shower, make my salad and get to work. I always go to bed early at 9.30pm.

I am a member at Curves, so it's not as if it is a long work out. I have time to go after work but then ususlly my husdand is left to attend to tea and then he carries on with not knowing what to cook. I ususally leave him a note but then he waits till I get home and then the evening meal can end up being too late for the kids and the night drags on.

I can hear myself writing down excuses as I do this and that is what it is, just an excuse, especially the arvo exercise.

Does anyone else have this problem ? It does frustrate me as I have solved other issues I have with losing weight, but can not seem to do this. Years ago I used to get up and walk for an hour plus on the weekend. That stopped when we had all the bike way attacks in Brisbane's north. Now I don't feel comfortable walking.

I will take my gym clothes to work today and see what happens.

thank you for listening.

KazB

Curves

Ive recently joined up at Curves and am wondering if anyone is a current member and on the TF diet too.
If so, are you finding it effective? Any ideas? I find it annoying that I do two minutes exercise and then take two minutes to navigate the menus to get onto a new activity. I reckon that interrupts the flow (and it means I have to make sure I set aside 50 minutes for a 30 minute workout). Surely there's an option for programming your favourite workouts?

wii fit

my birthday is next thursday and my family/boyfriend dont know what to get me... so im thinking of asking for a wii fit maybe- after reading these forums :D but i just would love some opinions about whether they are good for toning. coz i am finding the weight is coming off but my shape is not changing. i have a gym membership and i try to go in the afternoon for around 45 mins- so i was thinking if i had a wii fit i could do that before i go to work and then cut my gym time back to half hour as i am having trouble finding time to get to gym. but i have to go as i am looking to be able to run 10km by next july. so if anyone can let me know if it tones/increases fitness or is it just fun- it would eb fantastic!

thanks heaps guys.

Boxing?

anyone doing any boxing?

the last few months i have been doing boxing with a trainer at the gym i go to contours

i must say i am really enjoying it

it really gets my heart beat going

before doing boxing iw as finding that the weights and cario wasnt just enuff for me

also i have started doing work with a medicine ball with stomach crunches so hopefully my body is toning up for me lol

n00bie here!

How many times a week are you to excericse on tony ferguson and how long for?

Tae Bo Fitness Workout

When Tae Bo first came out, my brother bought the VHS tapes and I was able to have a go of them. I was really impressed wth the variety of exercises the instructor (Billy Blanks) took the viewers through, and although I looked like an idiot I'm sure, without too much trouble, I was able to get through them.

Now that I'm dieting, I thought since I don't have anywhere inside I can safely work out in front of the TV, I might get the DVDs and put them on my laptop so I can go out into the back yard to exercise.

Instead of buying the DVDs, I searched YouTube and found a heap of Tae Bo and Boot Camp videos. If you rip them onto your computer, it's a great workout for people who don't have access to classes, or don't want to join a class. You could always burn them to DVD and exercise in front of your TV - all for the pice of a single blank disk.

The work outs are really good, and I have a lot of fun doing them. At the end I'm drenched in sweat, but I know I've just done a thorough work out!

Very exciting news!!!!

People!!!! Who would think a computer game is going to help you loose weight. I bit the bullet and bought it, if nothing else i am sure it would be fun.
I have now had it a week, and I am now a big fan. I havent had the best week, and ended up with a gain, however i know that the Wii Fit is working when I wake up the next day after using it and my muscles are aching. It is just so much fun, and you work up a sweat. Would never do it with anyone watching as I am sure I look like an idiot.

Good luck everyone with the weightloss and exercise with what ever tools you have available to you.

Take care

Yoga

Yoga is a big part of my life and for those who haven't tried it before or are thinking of trying it, definitely give it a go!

On eating programs, it's still important to be grateful for every single loss you have, whether it be big or small, to love yourself every day and not beat yourself up too badly. A lot of people can be emotional eaters, so one of the best ways to complement this program is to learn to deal with those emotions. Yoga is not just tying yourself up in knots, its undoing them... physically and mentally.

For those who have done Yoga, i'm interested to hear what style, what you liked and didn't... and for those who have never tried but are willing, i'd also love to hear your thoughts.

:)
