Can someone suggest something that i could go out to snack on?? I have two social things involving food today - lunch AND dinner.

Just met a friend for lunch and we went to a cafe. It was all sandwiches and pies, so I thought I was being quite clever asking them to make me a salad with veggies and the sliced chicken breast from the sandwich bar. They were very accomodating, but when it arrived I think they'd drizzled it all with the liquid from the pickled veggies. It was sooo oily. Tasted pretty good, but I was stressing about all that fat.

Now I have to face a restaurant meal tonight for my dad's girlfriend's birthday. I downloaded the menu, and will order grilled fish and a salad, but I'm dreading asking for 'dressing on the side'. I know my family will give me heaps...

I guess I have to learn to deal with it though if I want to be thin.

Canberra - places to go and places to avoid

Hey everyone, if there are any canberrans or visitors who can add to this, please do. It might help someone visiting or starting the program.

Belucci's Woden - AVOID! Italian food is very rich and carb-loaded, and the only thing on their menu that looks TF-friendly is in fact creamy.

APK - AVOID!! Duh, Australian Pizza Kitchen, they have nothing.

Babar's Civic - One or two dishes there only, scotch fillet w/ veg instead of mash. But they're happy to help.

Oriental Kitchen Civic - Apart from being the BEST asian food I have ever found in Canberra, they have a few dishes that are quite ok. I had the beef black pepper hot pot recently which may have been a little heavy on the thickening agent and salt, but pretty friendly for an out-dish. Also they do greens in oyster sauce and steamed greens. No entrees though!!

Is Curried Prawns ok?

I was thinking they were. We're taking enough shakes for breakfast only, because we expect to be round and about during the days and evening and I have decided that sticking totally to the plan is too difficult if you don't have access to a kitchen. We would like to eat as far as possible reasonably healthy "maintenance-type" meals. Anyone have any suggestions for good places to eat? We are staying in Lake St near Aplin St which seems to be fairly central. We're planning to do a bit of walking and sightseeing which will hopefully make up for any minor dietary lapses.

Italian?

Does anyone know what food is best at a italian restaurant. Now, I am ready to lose that remaining weight, and the excess baby weight!! Two weeks in, and things are going pretty well, but now I face the tough eating out twice in one day!

Since round one, I seem to have stored that pink book in a very safe place and can't find it. I remember it had a great section on what to eat when you were going out. I also remember reading somewhere what to eat if your shakes hadn't been delivered yet (?online or in the book)

What should I do? I was thinking of having a shake in morning, and my normal fruit quota. Lunch is at Balsamic Restaurant at Eastland, Ringood. I had a look at their webiste and they have salads on offer, so I was thinking one of those (maybe the Tandoori salad or the smoked salmon stack). Dinner is at Sofia's in Camberwell - I know I could chose a tomato based pasta or vegetarian pizza, but I really want to avoid carbs if possible. Has anyone been to Sofia's? What options would I have? The only times I have been I ordered pizza or pasta!! Assuming they have some sort of fish or steak, and I chose that, based on everything else I would be eating during the day, am I getting the nutrients etc that I need?

I am praying for strong will power to NOT order the choc mint gelati!

Thanks for your help :)

In-Laws to be and potatoes

Hi All,

Heading over to the In-laws to be this evening for dinner and there will be potatoes on the menu.

I have been tracking really well, goal of a 10kg loss, have lost 6.2 already and its only been 4 weeks and to top it off have been exercising 4-5 times per week.

Can someone please tell me if it would be ok to have a small amount of potato without corrupting the diet???

Tamworth NSW

Hi TFer's

If you ever find yourself in Tamworth NSW, there's a wonderful little coffee shop called Kaycees, which is found in Tamworth Shoppingworld food court.

They have a TF menu cooked out of the cookbooks. I ended up having just a serve of veggies, but should I have had my shake that I was supposed to have at lunch time. I would have thought cos the shake has carbs in it and we're avoiding eating carbs in the evening that the shake would have been a bad thing.

What is the norm in this instance?

Gold Coast

Juts letting you guys know there is a restaurant in Coolangatta called 'Olio' it has a TF menu..

Old England Hotel, Heidelberg Vic

Im going to a work lunch tomorrow, Monday 28th July, and Im worried about what to order.
