I knew something didn't sound right. YAY that it is sorted out.

So glad that you have it all sorted out. Maybe you need to go back to the original lady and just let her know there was a mistake so that it doesn;t happen to anyone else. Or send an email to them.

Good Luck

RE: A question for TF staff on maintenance

Hi Angie and Rosebud!

Guess what? I spoke to the maintenance staff at the Call centre today. She was surprised that my maintenance consultant advised me to have 2 tubs of yoghurt twice a week!!! She said I am meant to have it everyday!! And a slice of cheese AND 2 small scoops of low fat ice cream too everyday if I wanted to!!! :w00t:

Can you believe that? She was like "You need to have enough calcium" etc. She was extremely helpful. She said that if I wanted to lose another 2 kilos and quickly then I can switch over to the 2 shake a day. Cuz I'd lose the 2 kilos in say 2 or 3 weeks and get back to maintenance. But she suggested that I stay on maintenance and incorporate everything that am allowed to eat and lose it slowly!

And guess what Angie? I weighed in today and I have lost 400gms!!! I was so thrilled! I know its only 400gms but at least the weight has budged a bit lol. So I guess we have to keep doing what we are doing and not overly concerned about losing few more kilos.

Thank you so much both of you for alerting me to this dairy intake issue. I bought myself 2 six packs of the No Forme yoghurt :P

Love you guys!!

Emma

RE: A question for TF staff on maintenance

surely you have to have so many serves of calcium every day as part of your plan??

My understanding is that every day you have to have so many serves of Carbs = made up of a certain number of complex carbs, certain number of dairy and certain number of fruit. Depending on your age and weight is how many of each you are allowed. For example I am on 11 carbs = 6 complex; 3 dairy and 2 fruit.

If you are not having yoghurt then what are you having as your dairy serves?? Milk? cheese? custard?

It is really important that you get adequate calcium or this can lead to ostioporosis (sp?). I am suprised that you are not getting enough if you are following the maintenance plan. But if you are not eating all you should be then this might be why I suppose?

Regards

RE: A question for TF staff on maintenance

Hi Angie

Yes thats the yoghurt my maintenance consultant recommended too. But she said "if its 175gm each tub (which it is) you're allowed to have that 2 times a week only".

I was also worried about the calcium level. cuz I know am not getting enough or even half the requirement. I was considering taking Caltrate or something.

Thanks darl :)

Emma

RE: A question for TF staff on maintenance

Hi daffodil

I have a youghurt every day as this is stated in my maintenance book. I am required to have 800gm of calcium a day and I dont meet that at all. I also have 2 skinny caps a day and 1 slice of low fat cheese a day in my sandwiched.

I have the forme no fat yoghurts, they are to die for. The flavours are vanilla, cheesecake, apple pie and others..mmmm

RE: A question for TF staff on maintenance

Hi Angie,

Thanks for your reply. I was just wondering if you are having your yoghurt everyday? I thought it was only a treat and you can have 175gms a tub, twice a week. I had one today!! Relished every spoon of it lol

Hi Rosebud,

Thanks for sharing your diet plan. Yes yours is different. I am on plan 1 where I am allowed to have carbs between 155 - 200 everyday. But my concern was that I am having much less than the recommended carbs plus kilojoules but cant seem to lose weight :( I do realise that we are not on weightloss stage but just a thought that if my intake is low plus my workout, why is my weight stagnated.

Anyway still waiting for a response from the TF staff.

Good luck girls :)

Emma

RE: A question for TF staff on maintenance

Hello girls,

I have been on maintenance for three weeks now. I was interested to read your daily food intake. Obviously mine is different because I am heavier. My plan is based around maintaining 70 kilos and the lady set it at the lower limits as I was happy to lose a bit more weight still and was really worried about puttign the weight back on again.

My typical day is

breakfast - 3/4 cup special k or 2 weetbix hibran with 1 cup of skim milk and 1/2 fruit serve

morning tea - a fruit serve and 100g yoghurt

lunch - a can of tuna or some deli meat, 2 slices 9 grain bread and salad

afternoon tea - 1/2 fruit serve

dinner - serve protein, carbs (sweet potato, corn, rice, pasta etc) and veges

dessert - low fat custard or yoghurt with jelly

I have my 2 litres of water a day plus three cups of tea. Most days I have a cup or two of caffeine free coke. Each week I have been having my two treats as well.

This last week I have got stuck into the walking on my treadmill again and have done 1/2 an hour every morning walking at 5.5 kph.

Just wanted to share. Good luck!

RE: A question for TF staff on maintenance

Hi Emma

Sounds really good hun. Dont be afraid to est carbs at night time, cause carbs may mean just a small amount of sweet potatoe, or a slice if bread.

I understand what you mean about being scared to put on weight again. I am terrified myself, and I dont want to go backwards.

I feel the same about shedding a bit more, so that if there are any slip ups, then it is not so bad. Everyone says that I have lost too much already..but you know what, I do what I want, and you do the same.

I am stuck at the same weight for 3 weeks now, and I do treadmill and weights every night:w00t:

I cant work it out, I thought that I would have lost a bit more after 4 weeks on the treadmill!

You do what you feelk comfy with Emma.

All the best:)

RE: A question for TF staff on maintenance

Hi Ange,

Thanks for replying hun. I am 160cm tall and weighing 54.7kgs now. Technically speaking I don't have to lose weight. But I want to get to 52 so that i have a bit of a buffer in case i have a slip here and there.

I don't eat carbs at night simply cuz am scared to!! :w00t: I worry that am going to put on weight!! I avoid it as much as I can. sometimes when we go out i cannot help it. I eat carbs at night.

I drink more than 4.5 litres of water a day. I have always drunk more than 4 litres of water even before TF. So nothing new there.

I was 58.5 when I started maintenance and I lost the 4 kilos really faster than when I was on the weightloss stage. Now its come to a standstill. I work out like everyday pretty much. I am not even having a treat and my intake is so low in kilojoules. Why am I not losing?? What if I have carbs at night and have treats would i put on weight? :w00t: Thats my concern.

My typical diet is:

1/2 cup of oats with water and a dash of skim milk for breakfast OR 2 Hi-bran weetbix with 2/3 cup of skim milk

one piece of fruit for morning tea and a cuppa coffee (mainly water and a dash of skim milk)

A salad with tuna or vegetable soup with maybe 2 slices of burgen bread (soy and lin)

An apple for afternoon tea

around 6pm i get so hungry so I have either vita weat or 10 almonds

dinner is usually my protein serve, chicken or fish or meat with vegetables

I have a small mandarine at 9pm and sometimes a cup of herbal tea.

This is typically my diet. What do you think?

Emma

RE: A question for TF staff on maintenance

Hi hun

I am on maintenance too, and have been for about 7 weeks. I started losing more weight as I do not reach my kj intake either. I dont think I am now either. My weight fluctates for me too.

I am not gaining, but I got stuck for 2 weeks with no loss. I really dont want to lose any more though as I am happy, but I want to tone my body more.

I do 45 minutes on the treadmill on program 2 which is walking, faster, power walk, then a run. I also do weights every 2nd day

I wanted to know why you are not eating any carbs at dinnertime?

I always eat some sweet pototoe of a slice of bread, every day. I still have all my 2 to 3 ltrs of water, 3 cups of vegies, and my protein serve. I have a tub of low fat youghurt and 2 pieced of fruit a day too.

Try to incorporate carbs if you can as the good carbs are great for us and necessary to fuel the body.

Are you drinking heaps of water?

This will help with your weight loss too. Try to chage ya diet some how, and if that does not work, then speak to the TF staff about the 2 shakes.

GOOD LUCK HUN

A question for TF staff on maintenance

Hello

I have been on maintenance for the past 2 months or so. I have been very strict in what am eating. I have some occasional treat. I basically am having less than 5500 kj which is what my maintenance consultant wrote for me. I am strictly not eating any carbs for dinner! I am also exercising (power walking on the treadmill mostly) for an hour at least 4 times a week.

My question is, I want to lose 2 more kilos and I have been trying past several weeks to achieve that. My weight is just static. I haven't put on weight but am not losing any either.

If am consuming less than 5500 kjs a day and burning more than 2000 kj with my exercise routine, I should lose few hundred grams every week shouldn't I? So if I start incorporating carbs for dinner too, would I put on weight?? :w00t:

I know I haven't got much to lose. Its only 2 kgs that I am aiming at. But that seems impossible *sigh*

I would welcome any suggestion or improvement to my diet. Or should i go back to 2 shakes a day to get the 2 kgs down?

Regards

Emma
