I'm not talking about the normal amount of hair we lose each day... mine is pretty significant sustained hair loss. You can definitely see my hair is thinning on top at this stage and so I've taken to wear head bands and head scarves some of the time.

Today I went in to see my dermatologist and he is pretty sure that it is related to me dropping a significant amount of weight in a relatively short period of time (although he did take a scalp biopsy to have a closer look at the roots - I've got a stitch in my head at the moment!). He pretty much said that my choices were to keep on the diet and know that the hair will keep coming out until my weight stabilises, or to stop the weightloss now. There is no way I am going to stop at this stage (and he understood that and didn't advise me against it). So I guess I need to just get used to the fact that everytime I wash my hair a whole lot comes out... and everytime I brush my hair more comes out... and everytime I run my hands through my hair - well you get the picture!

So I wanted to put a call out there again to see if anyone else has had similar problems? This is NOT the same as the normal 3 month hair cycle which a lot of people experience - mine has been going on for at least 4 months. And it's not quite the same as women who have lost a lot of hair post pregnancy. I'm hoping that someone who has maybe reached goal and experienced hair loss is going to pipe up and tell me not to worry the hair grows back once your weight stabilises! Anyone?? Please :ermm:

Help!!!

Hello, this is meant to be my third day and already i have stuffed up. Last night i was so hungry, I gave into temptation and had some dark chocolate-I know i should have stopped there, but I didn't-out came the potato chips oh and some more chocolate after that.grrrr:crazy:
Anyway- new day today-had my shake in the morning all was well until, it all went to the crapper at lunch and then afternoon and then again afternoon.:w00t:

So, I have been sitting here all day googling and researching and like many people trying to find the answer to solve their weight problem, when deep down i know it lies with me and my lack of motivation. i read about peoples stories and successes and think "wow, thats fantastic- I'm going to do that too" but then....I get off track, again, again and again.

So, maybe TF isn't for me-I'm just so hungry. i know its hard the first few days but I feel really really hungry, so I think maybe I should just eat well again-I know what I should and shouldn't eat, maybe I should do the csiro diet,or the womens weekly wonder diet or dr Oz YOU on a diet- or even take fat blaster and fat magnet tablets, or the lemon detox diet (though if I'm finding TF hard I doubt I'd last drinking lemon juice for 10 days) see, I'm a nutcase-I'm going crazy, :w00t:I'm so obsessed with losing weight that I'm doing my head in...breathe...breathe:sick:

All I want to lose as so i can hopefully find a bit of motivation is 5 kilos-thats it and i can't get off my butt to do that. Should I maybe do a shake only once a day, until I get more used to it? I'm so confused and annoyed with myself. Is there anyone out there who is also feeling a bit lost and frustrated with themselves. I really do feel quite pathetic! Anyone else doing a shake only once a day, how is your weight loss going?

I welcome any advice-god knows i need it.

Frustrated

Not happy Jan. I've been sticking to the diet over the last 6 weeks. Yes not always completely strict with portion control of protein (occasionally have an extra half portion). But I've been making an effort to drink most or all of my water every day and have been having the fruit serving for afternoon tea as well after the advice I got earlier.

But so far all I've lost is about 3kgs. And for the last 2+ weeks I've not budged from hovering around the 74kgs - 73kgs (but usually something like 74.2kgs).

I'm just getting a little frustrated. Especially as it looks like now I wont reach my goal due date. Of course that's not going to stop me, I'm determined to stick to it until I achieve my goal. Now tonight I've totally disappointed myself by having an whole extra portion of protein (egg omlette with smoked salmon in it).

Are there other people in the same boat? When someone posts with something positive to say there is an overwhelming response but when someone plays devils advocate there is very little response :(. I was very excited to lose weight with TF the first time around so I am not questioning that it works - what I do find surprising is the number of people 'returning to TF' as 2nd timers (myself included). I am at my heaviest after 'coming off' TF. I did not follow maintenance but also felt that I did not eat unhealthily. I was eating as I had always done - which would, at most, make me gain the xtra 5-8kg that would make me feel sluggish. Post-TF without changing much in my diet - my weight ballooned up to 10kg. I find it a bitter pill to swallow to think that this programme ties you down to shakes and munch bars (yay-munch bars) for ever and ever. Great for the money-makers at TF - not great for us. I know it works so I am back on again but I can't help wondering what I am doing to my metabolism that it has this effect off the programme. It would be great to hear from a number of people who have had long-term success following the shakes. I'm sorry if anyone takes offence to this but I think we owe it to ourselves in this community to open up completely about how this is for us.

just over 5 kilos to goal...

Hi everyone, how are you all today? I am feeling pretty good today.

I have been slipping a bit lately and have been sick of the shakes etc and just not getting anywhere. I went of the shakes this last week but i managed to make good choices and eat healthy and maintained. But because i am so close to goal i am finding it difficult to shift those last 5 kilos. So i woke up this morning and made myself get down to my TF clinic first thing and I spoke with one of the lovely ladies there. She has now given me new hope to get to goal :D

She suggested that I go on the one shake a day plan for a couple of weeks to try to shake things up a bit and get my body back into fat burning mode. Then i might hit the two shake plan hard for another couple of weeks. I am motivated to get there by Xmas! This will be my 6 week Xmas challenge for myself. There is also a free 6 week challenge that i am taking part in at my Curves so that combined with my TF 6 week challenge should hopefully be a success! I have come this far, so no turning back now. Getting rid of my muffins is my ultimate goal and i am going to do it!!! :P

Anyway I just wanted to put that all in writing to keep myself on track. Good luck to everyone else doing your Xmas challenges. Today I got invited to a dinner and what should have been an exciting event has now been ruined by my weight. I went dress shopping this afternoon and not one dress fit me properly or looked halfway decent. Looks like I am just going to have to think of some excuse why I can't attend. My weight is holding me back. I am always making excuses to hide away. I would so love to look good to go out somewhere just once. Just to have something that fits - not too tight, no body fat hanging out or giant boobs everywhere would be fantastic. Even my bras don't fit me properly. I have seen some bigger woman who can still look good in clothes but I am all blobbed out everywhere. I wish the jiggle would just disappear. I hate myself for letting things go this far.

Sorry for the rant - just had to get it out

TF is okay!

Hi! Im not sure if this is the place to post this topic so please let me know!

Anyway.

Today for lunch I had my standard shake (English toffee, oh so yum!) when my maths specialist (I am a primary school teacher and in our school we have a maths and english specialist that helps us keep kids with learning probs etc on track) came into my classroom to talk to me when she eyed my shaker and made the remark,

"Oh you're not doing the shake diet are you?"

She gave me this look of absolute horror and said it in such a skeptical tone I simply replied,

"Yes I am and I think it's working just fine."

Then I walked out of my classroom clenching my jaw making a hasty exit to the staffroom.

Now this woman is what I would call a "Do-gooder". Theyre the people that tell you what they think is right. She eats everything organic (grown on her farm etc) and is constantly overheard about her 'worldly' beliefs that everything will work out all right by everyone.

Whilst I think its great for people to have such a passion for these things. I did not appreciate being put on the spot, I am on a personal weightloss/health journey of my own and I do not need someone else's opinions to dishearten and lose my motivation.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Btw .. I have always had a very health diet, due to my Mum being a heath freak. I put on some weight when I had back surgery at the age of 22 as I was immobile for a few months. My highest weight was 73kgs at around the age of 25. I went on light and easy and got down to 57kgs and then leveled off at about 63kgs for a few years. In the past year I put on a few more kgs and got up to about 66kgs. I started TF in June and got back to 62kgs and have just been on a big trip to the USA and am now backto 64.5kgs (BUMMER!!) So today I started back on the TF:) I am hoping to get to around 60kgs and maintain it, but would be happy to get back to 62kgs as a first goal. I am VERY active and walk for over an hour 4+ times per week or more if I have the time (currently I am on annual leave from work so am walking etc multiple times per day) I also don't walk on the flat, but up big hills. I am REALLY hoping to loose the weight before Christmas. Do you think it is possible? I am going to try and record what I eat most days to try and keep on track.....here it goes!

Today (10/11/08= MON)

Bfast- TF sachet (shake)

M'tea-12 almonds

Lunch-TF soup (sachet)

A'tea-small brown pear 2 small radishes

Dinner- chicken breast grilled with slice of light ham and slice of cheese YUM!

Notatoes (recipe off this site) (cauliflower steamed and wizzed in the blender with a tbs of light

           philly cheese,

           some cucumber slices

           Diet jelly

Treat:- Diet coke (almost never have any type of soft drink, so treat for me:)

low sugar yakult (my tummy is a bit off)

Exercise- walk for 1 hour in morning

             tennis 1 hour mid day

             walk 15 mins afternoon.

Fluids:- HEAPS (prob 2 litres) water

4 cups tea (small amount skim milk)

           1 cup cammomile tea

Feeling- A bit bloated still, feel like I am still retaining fluid from holiday?

Weight this am- 64.5kgs:(

Feeling Great

Hi Everyone

Well I have only been back on TF for 4 days and have already lost 1.5kilo's and feeling great. I must admit that it was hard and the hunger pains were bad but I am happy say that I am well back on my way to re-losing those 6 kilo's that I regained and reaching my goal weight.

TessaD

Use of TF Program

I have just joined and am considering going on the program. I could ask the following questions at a consultation but since their job is to sell me the product, I would be taking their advice with a grain of salt. I don't know if anyone has expert advice but here is my situation...

I lost 20kg through personal training (weights and cardio) and a 12 week challenge program at my gym. I am well versed in healthy eating and maintain a fairly healthy diet currently, although not as "perfect" and regular as it should be/was. When I was training (only 1 hour per week in resistance, 6 hours a week cardio), I had a basal metabolic rate of 1600 calories. That meant my body at rest would burn 1600 calories without me having to lift a finger. Given that my normal diet is only 1450 calories, this was a good deficit to have.

I believe I reached my "natural" weight at 73kg. I found it difficult to lose any more than that, even though I still had about 28-30% body fat. My genes aren't good and I gained weight as a side effect of coming off some medication when I was 17 (23 now), but 73kg was just fine by me, even though I had always wanted to be under 70!

When I moved out of home I stopped going to gym for 5 months and I lost most of my muscle mass, which meant a decrease in metabolism and calorie burning, and so I gained 9kg, and now weigh 82kg. Although I know I could re-lose this weight with my old diet and exercise program, it requires ALOT of effort. You eat 6 times per day and its expensive due to the amount of protein you eat, salads/vegies, etc. I am very busy at work at the moment and want to commit to something that is a little less involved and doesn't require me to dash down to the shops every few days for fresh meat and vegies.

I only wish to lose 5-9kg, just as a jumpstart to getting back into my training. I am concerned that if I go on the TF program, if I do lose weight, it may only come back to bite me in the butt later when I start my other eating plan (which is a very balanced diet of carbs, protein, etc, but is very filling and bread, pasta, etc are not excluded).

I am wondering if the TF program is actually suitable for short term, convenient weight loss. I have time to make dinner, but not time for breakfast and lunch (i.e. I would normally poach eggs, and make chicken salads, etc), hence why the shakes appeal to me (plus I have always drunk protein shakes anyway).

I'm not concerned about the program not working, rather concerned that it will work, but only while I'm on it, and if I come off it completely afterward (but still eat a low calorie diet and exercise) I will gain the weight back plus more. Basically I'm not going to spend money to gain weight.

Thoughts? Advice?
