I weigh myself daily and have found the numbers are now slowing down. My first week I lost no less than 4 kgs which I was ecstatic about, my 2nd week I just lost 0.5kg and was really disappointed. Have kept going despite feeling disheartened.

I've stopped breastfeeding about 3 months ago, haven't had a period, but also have PCOS. Still no sign of a period despite my weight loss so far, but I'm wondering if there are other women post pregnancy having slow weight losses each week?

I'm also feeling really lethargic lately too where I've got muscular weakness by the evening...anyone else experiencing this after 3 weeks?

Hope someone has any thoughts on my questions.

Andys Girl Blogging off her Weight

So today is the start of Week Four and I find these forums so inspiring that I thought I may start a blog to keep myself occupied but to use it to reflect upon down the track to see where I have come from...

Ok so this is the photo that made me go ewww.... I said to my boyfriend after "Why didn't you tell me to pull my tummy in" and I joked "All the photos you take make me look fat".... but really its not him it's me. I hate the fact my tummy shows and the way it all looks... it's just grose :ermm:.

So here I am starting Week Four and trying to get down to 65kg currently 78.5kg... so 13kg to go which is a little depressing but it took it's time creeping on so it'll take time to get rid of it. I log onto these forums EVERY day for motivation, seeing all the before and after photos and even posts about someone's day makes me think about my choices.

I am strong and I CAN do this. My mum had a stroke on the weekend so I am also going to do this for her, to try and be a great role model and be the healthy person I know I am. I also want to tackle this now while I can... I have no excuses not to I've just been too lazy up until now. I want to be thinner, I want to be slim, I want my boyfriend to be able to pick me up, I want to wear size 10/12 clothes and be able to walk into ANY shop rather than shop at Kmart all the time. I'm over it!

I think I've vented all that I can and will be back soon. :P

ANDYS GIRL BLOGGING OFF THIS WEIGHT! It's my birthday tomorrow, and my son offered to buy me a nice pair of earrings as a gift. So off we wandered into our local shopping centre, and went to Michael Hill jewellers to look at some earrings. I chose a nice pair, 9ct gold with blue stones, took them home and then discovered that the posts were too thick to go through my earlobes.

So we went straight back into town and got a refund. Now this is where I had my lightbulb moment. My son asked me if I wanted to choose another piece of jewellery, and I looked him straight in the eye and said "you know, I don't really need another bit of jewellery, what I really need this week is more shakes". So we then went to the chemist and bought a week's supply of shakes for me.

While he was paying for the shakes, I couldn't help wondering about how I have changed. It actually scared me a bit because I can't figure out if I am losing the old me, or finding the person I am becoming.

When did diet food become more important to me than some nice jewellery. Why do I wake up in the morning, and my first thought is where can I go for my walk today. Some times I don't recognise the person living in my thoughts. I do know that these changes are a good thing, but it is hard to catch up to myself sometimes. I still look at the largest size clothing when I go shopping, I can't seem to accept that I am a smaller size now. Maybe I need to accept that I am changing for the better, and just go with the flow.

Syda.

New Product which I cannot believe!

Hello All,

Before me is a product I never thought would be available. My weekly regimen consists of alternating days of doing an ab routine, lifting weights, resistence training AND then my cardio. My cardio consists of walking 2 miles, running 1. So I'll do, for example; Cardio monday, strength training tuesday, etc; and try to work in weight-lifting every day if I can.

I woke up this morning.. 3 pounds heavier than I was yesterday, but with .5 inches gone from my waist?

Does that make any sense at all?

I am also suspecting that this halt in weight-loss might have something to do with the Time-Of-Month. :/

At first my goal was to lower my bodyfat to below 25%--and I didn't really care too much about the weight. Weight is weight, right? But my goals kind of flip-flopped on me.

I know for sure I have to have that 30 grams of carbohydrates because of the cardio and weight-lifting I do. But is there anything else I can do to ensure the weight-loss progresses?

Also.. I notice that I'm lighter at 10 AM than I am at 9 AM. How do I shift that around to be an earlier time/is that possible?

I'm so fat and stupid

I hate myself so much. I was told not to weigh myself everyday by a tf rep or whatever and that I should be eating more than 30 carbs a day.

So I took the advice and now I'm weighing in at 180 lbs. I'm so mad at myself for being so stupid. I'm so fat and I seriously hate myself.

What's wrong with me? I can't lose weight. I'm just so fat and stupid.

I've been trying to lose for 4 months now and it's got me right fucking where I started. I'm just so upset right now, crying as I type this. The Army was something I really wanted to do. Even with my runs and weight lifting I'll never be able to get in. It was one fucking wasteful step backward. I just hate myself so much.

It wasn't even worth it. Now my recruiter is going to be so disappointed with me and think I am not giving it my all and just bullshitting around. I just hate myself so much.

Even if I started again now I'd be only down to 168 pounds. I'm so ducked. I hate life. I hate having a messed up body that won't lose weight. I went to see a doctor yesterday that treats hormones etc by nutrition and drugs. A freind recomended this doctor as it had really helped her with her weight loss. I was feeling really good about it and happily went in to have the nurse take my details. All was well untill she tried to take my blood pressure and the cuff did not fit around my arm, she tried a few times and looked really shocked and embarrassed for me. She excused herself and went out the room I could here her asking all the other staff if there was a bigger cuff. The doctor finally came in and looked at me and then looked at the nurse and send we will need to get a thigh calf for that arm. So they couldnt take my blood pressure

I completed the rest of my time there holding back tears and the nurse just kept looking at me with pity she didnt say anything. I am 125kg the heaviest Ive ever been, but I was still happy and outgoing till yesterday. Now I feel like a huge monster, Am I the heaviest person to ever go to that surgery, How can I face the world.

Thanks for listening I just wanted to get it off my chest If any of you have similar stories please share I suppose it will make me feel less alone.

Stress

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to ask what everybody thinks. Im going through a LOT of stress at home at the moment. I have two sons that are in trouble will the police BIG TIME. They are 14 and 17 and dont give a hoot what happens to them. They go to court On Mon 22nd March, 2010. My 5yr old daughter came home on Monday with head lice. I have just found a lump in my breast and I have to wait till Monday to have a mamogram and Its the 1st anniversary of mum dying of cancer in two weeks.

I feel like i am slowly sinking.

I havent broke TF at all while this has been going on, though last week I realised I was having a few too many treats, like the sauces you put on your vegies. but other than that I have been doing everything by the book. But the scales are not moving. Last week I lost 200g and this week is looking like nothing.

Do you think that stress can stop you loosing weight?

Is anyone here?

Hi, i havent been on in a while, and come back, and its like dead !! .. where did everyone go??

UK Visitor

Have a very good friend visiting from the UK. I've had the appointment since September last year, so a long wait.

At the time the appointment was made I was snoring VERY LOUDLY every single night, I would start snoring as soon as my eyes were closed, even during watching a video. My OH had to go and sleep in a separate room and even with a large bathroom and the door of his room closed he could still hear me and was woken up by me frequently. I used to wake myself up snoring I was that loud.

We have noticed while on the TF program I have stopped snoring. I decided I would keep the appointment just in case there was something there that they still felt needed looking at. We ended up talking about the TF program for about half the time I was there, the doctor was impressed with what had happened and said just keep an eye on things but "I think you've cured yourself".

While I understand that not all diets are for everyone, I'm so so glad I found this one for me, between my PCOS, gluten intolerance and the sinus/snoring problems I found a way to be healthy that's not hard :D

Andrea vs Tony

A member of the Tony Ferguson Program is challenging herself to cook her way through the Tony Ferguson cookbooks and stay motivated while doing the Tony Ferguson program.
She is keeping a blog of her efforts as an extra motivator and to keep her mind off the scales!

Follow her progress at http://andreavstony.wordpress.com/

Carbs!!!

Hi everyone, I am new and have a couple of questions and would love some advice. Is it possible that I can gain this much weight in one day?

Response:
The answer depends entirely on what you mean by weight. Sure, you can fluctuate by two or three pounds from day to day, but not because you've gained or lost that much body fat.

To gain a pound of fat requires taking in 3,500 to 4,000 calories (and to lose a pound requires a deficit of the same magnitude). The only way you could put on three pounds of fat in one day would be to eat roughly 12,000 more calories than you need, which is usually enough food for an entire week. The pounds that appear and disappear so quickly on the scale are due to factors like water weight, which goes up and down constantly depending on how hydrated you are, and the amount of food in your GI tract at any one time.

So don't rely on a daily weighing. Focus instead on healthful living, and look to the scale only once a month (once a week if you're trying to lose weight) for the occasional reality check.

Dr. David L. Katz, M.D.

_________________________________________________________________________

YOU Docs: Frequently Asked Questions

Back to The Doctors Are In: FAQs
Return to FAQs: Healthy Habits

Q: I have been stuck at the same exact weight for a week now (I go up a pound one day and back down the next day) and I'm not sure why. I'm really frustrated, because I started lifting weights on Monday; I've been walking on all the days and I've really been trying to watch what and how much I'm eating. Do you have any thoughts or suggestions?

A: Do not worry about daily weight when you first start muscle building. You will accumulate water in these newly worked muscles—it takes time to get rid of this new water. So weight gain (or lack of loss) is water that will go away with time. It is the opposite of weight loss when you go on a low-carb diet where you'll get rid of water in your muscles. Water loss in muscles will come back like an unwanted boyfriend when you eat carbs again. So your steady weight now is actually progress.

_____________________________________________________________________________

I'm doing everything right. Why have I gained weight?
Expect to put on five, six or seven pounds of water when you start this program, especially if you've been inactive for a couple of years. Simultaneously, you may be losing fat, and you'll break even, but it's just water weight. It doesn't change the way your clothes fit. It's a slower process this way—there's no doubt about it—but it's the right way. It's the permanent way. Your body has to re-hydrate itself before your metabolic engine can be set up properly. That's the best sign—those four or five pounds—that a person is going to be successful.
how many calories are we really consuming???

i was just wondering...because that is a pretty big difference...

Lupin+ Formula in my shakes

Hi all, after reading an editorial on how lupins can cure T2 diabetes in Diabetic Living magazine earlier this year I checked with my doctor abt using Lupin+ Formula. He said he hadn't heard abt it, but thought if it was in the reputable mag it was worth a go. I've been adding it to my TF shakes for a couple of months now and because it's so fine it mixes in really well. My fasting blood glucose tests have been really favourable and I'm losing weight. Lupins are also know to help beat cravings which helps because I find the small TF meals hard. I'm now looking to find more recipes I can add Lupin Formula because unfortunately the website doesn't list any appetiteright.com.au. I've been using it only in shakes and soup so far. Does anyone else use this product? If so what recipes have you found that work? Thanks:)

Are we addicted?

Wondering... random thoughts here....but...

There are all kind of detox clinics out there for people suffering from alcohol addiction and drugs etc. is there anywhere for food addicts?

?

Hydrocut Max helps me

Hi,

I've been using Hydrocut Max which is an advanced weight loss calorie buring tablet whilst on the TF program and have foiund it really has helped me. So far I am losing a 1kg a week average. I have been on TF for about 6months now but fell off the wagon. Now I am back on stronger than ever. Here are a few things that are helping me on my journey.

Water - At first it was really hard to drink 2 litres of water every day. I bought a 2L bottle and would try to make sure i drank it by the end of each night. However the size of that bottle is HUGE and used to put me off, now i carry a 600ml bottle and everytime it`s empty I refill it! I am now drinking 3L everyday with ease. Also i like to play with different herbal tea flavours, to mix things up.

Sleep - If I dont get at least 8 hours of sleep each night, not only am I drained, but I find myself searching for that extra energy in the wrong foods. I crave bread and pasta when i am sleepy, and can only put it down to an energy need. If any of you are the same, perhaps this is why.

Snacks - In between breaky lunch and dinner i do find myself searching the cubourds for something to snack on. And so my tastiest snack is grilled veggies. Also helps to boost the intake we need. My favourite veggies are brocolli and cauliflower, which can get very boring. So I steam them so they are cooked but still crunchy, and then sprinkle them with herbs, my favourites at the moment are cracked pepper and garlic, or garlic and cayene pepper, toss the veggies in the mix and then put under the grill until they are crispy. A very tasty snack and you can experiment with all kinds of flavours!

I also seem to be eating a pack of jelly night ! I like to put fruit in the bottom of the bowl first to make it interesting.

Exercise - I have a cross trainer and a weight bench. I was using both on alternitive days, however my weightloss slowed completly even though I was eating an extra serve of fruit etc. Now i walk at a normal pace around my neighbourhood for 30mins every day and I am losing 1 - 1.5kgs a week.

This forum - I used to browse the forums but not take much interest. Now I am on everyday and I learn so much from everybody. An extremley useful and enjoyable outlet!

These are the things I have learnt so far on my TF journey. I hope maybe they can help any newbies that are still finding their feet on the program ;)
I will update more as I discover more :) 7kgs down - 10kg to go !!

Laura x

PS; TOILET ROLLS!! haha, i have to buy bulk loo rolls now im drinking so much water. Also I have been told to drink cold water as the body absorbes it better ! x

Do you want to be a Size or a Weight?

I was just chatting to a friend about weight etc. and how she desperately wants to be under 60kgs. She has no idea what that will look like because she's never been that weight in her adult life but it is her goal and she likes the number because it's what the chart says she should be. It hugely amuses her that I have no dream of such a number and that all I really want to do is work into a 'normal' store.

In NZ all stores go up to a size 16 and a huge percentage do up to an 18 so I'm absolutely fine with being a 16/18 - when I get there. My goal isn't really a number, it's a dress size.

What about everyone else, are you aiming for a specific look/size or just going by the numbers.

?

Well I did it !!!!!!!!

Hi there..
Went and saw the girls at TF.
Weigh in cried,:crying: I was so embarrass Like the people on biggest loser..
But I am now all loaded up with my supply's.;)
Plus cleaned out the frig and cupboard..:D
And whent shopping with my allowed food list:Wow:
Had my first shake, chocolate and loved it :w00t:
I feel good..This is the first day to my new life.:P
Here I go woo hoo...:)

Fun inspirational video

I just came across this and one bit in particular made me laugh - looked just like me!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThBsTGBRUNU

Yeah, it was the first walk from the scales :D Other days I just grin widely - no exuberant dance.

Goal weight for those who are 1.65m???

I'm just wondering, who out there is the same height as me (165cm) and what have you set your goal weight as?
