The selenium in the product is from a fish source and even though I had previously never had a reaction to fish products before because of having the shakes twice a day every day for months I developed an allergy. It was a week of looking like a lobster and being hot and itchy and the hospital said it looked like a shell fish allergy. I rang Ultraslim and they said that yes it was probably caused by the product and it was a common side effect for people who had allergies. I would now avoid any cheaper weight loss product. You really do get what you pay for.

:) Kristy (waiting for my TF shakes to arrive)

RE: ULTRA SLIM

there are a lot of weight loss alternatives out there but I think I have had the most success on TF program.

cheers

RE: ULTRA SLIM

The difference between Ultra Slib and TF shakes is well explained. I am on the TF program and very happy - actually extremely happy with a loss of 1.2kg this week but absolutely cannot drink the super sweet TF shakes - have really tried but just cannot drink them. Tried the Ultra Slim and it is quite pleasant and definitely not sweet tasting. The huge dilema is how to stay on the TF program when the shakes do not compare in taste.

RE: ULTRA SLIM

I love Lupin8. i have beenusing it 2 days and boy what a difference to hunger and cravings.

Certainly keeps you fuller.

Cant wait to see how the rest of the week goes.

Cheers all. I'm coming up to 3 weeks on TF (gee it's gone fast!), and quite a few people have commented on how expensive it is. This includes a girl who has just signed up for Weight Watchers, which (in my opinion) is more of a money-grabbing croc than TF ever will be! I think that the amount WW charge to join up (can't remember how much, other than it being significantly more than TF), then paying $15 a week or whatever it is now to stand on the scales and hear a pep talk, then having to buy "normal" food - works out to a lot more than any of us TF-ers would be spending. I wouldn't go as far as saying TF is cheaper than I was spending before, but with not buying pasta/rice/bread/muffins/smallgoods/cheese/potato/pumpkin/juice/alcohol/yogurt/icecream/snacks etc etc etc it's comparable.

RE: ULTRA SLIM

Well i have just stopped doing the Ultra Slim shakes and yes it was hard to measure out the correct amount everytime you had a shake.. You can try almost any of the weight loss products available and if you stick to it, you will lose weight, but it's sticking to it that is the main reason that people fail. If you have a good support group and counsellors that you can talk to and weigh in with, it makes it so much easier than going it alone. :)

RE: ULTRA SLIM

NeeNeeBird is right, the others just don't taste good. TF shakes are the only thing worth buying, we all try something different when $ are tight, but in the long run it comes back to taste:Wow:

RE: ULTRA SLIM

I've tried Ultra Slim and though it's cheaper.. it's not worth it.

First, it's not a controlled diet so you don't feel like you're doing anything good for your body other then forcing this stuff down.

Secondly, it has to be mixed with milk and it's hard to get the measurements right.. especially the measurements of the powder.

And third.. it doesn't taste very nice at all, to tell you the truth. I noticed that it didn't mix well.. all the powder would cling to the top. It had a yuck texture too.

So I'd recommend you spend the extra few dollars and go for something that actually tastes good and you feel works!

RE: ULTRA SLIM

what about Thermo trim max Low carb formula. It's lower in carbs than TF 7.6g per serve, still uses fructose and has chromium in it as well as other things eg. L-carnitine bitter orange green tea etc.??

RE: ULTRA SLIM

 Well take it from me. Been there tried it and it really didn't work. I switched from TF to Ultra Slim & I lost initally the first week and then after that my weight stayed the same. I eventually gave up and was on no diet for around 3 months. Now I am back on TF as from Friday the 19th Jan and at day three. The headaches have just gone. I know TF works because the first time I was on it last year I lost 8kg.

So yeh switching isn't all its cracked up to be.

Yours in weightloss, ~Kilo_loser~ :P

RE: ULTRA SLIM

I have tried ultra slim, and others similar like herbal life, and it is really hard to get accurate measures of the stuff, and maybe I didn't read properly, but there is no real plan with them. On herbal life the consultant (and I use that term loosely) said we could have whatever we liked for the other meal. We had no advice about chromium for cravings, no fruit snacks, and I have never had constipation like on the herbal life, probably because we were not eating salads/veges. We just kept eating the normal crap. Also this is the only shake my husband has been able to enjoy the taste. To be able to enjoy it makes it so much easier to have. Also the different flavours. You buy a big tin of the others and if you don't really like the taste, you have a nearly full tin of that in the cupbaord until you throw it out for being out of date. I think TF is very cheap. People just don't add up the overall benefits, or the cost of the stuff they used to eat. It was like when bananas were really dear. Did anyone ever work out that a banana was still cheaper than a chocolate bar? I did and when I told people they had to think about that for a minute! We go shopping for fruit and veges and get huge bags of the stuff for so little. We are saving heaps on the TF plan. I say plan as I feel it is more than just diet, it sets you up for the future. :D

RE: ULTRA SLIM

Antoher question.

how does TF compare with Ultralite? I went on Ultralite a year ago and shed lots of weight, i had to drink 3 sachets a day with a small main meal as well, it seemed close to Atkins (which i have also done) in the sense that it limits carbs to 20g a day.

I love and i mean LOVE the flavour of the TF shakes, but just curious on the comparison to Ultralite.

Thanks.

RE: ULTRA SLIM

My friend has just started Ultra Slim and i tried explaining to her that TF is a much better plan but she wouldn't listen and was more concerned about the cost. I'll copy what you have written and send it to her, maybe that might explain things better to her and she'll change to TF. It might cost more but to me it is well worth it.

ULTRA SLIM

Hi everybody,

I just thought i would clear up a few inquiries and statements that have been made about Ultra Slim shakes having the same nutritional value and being exactly the same as the TF sachets. People have even suggested using the Ultraslim powder with the TF program because it is cheaper!

Yes, at first glance the nutritional values do seem quite similar; but in fact they are not. The Ultraslim shakes have a higher energy value than the TF sachets and also less protein. They contain only 12g per serve compared with the 17g in the TF sachets. Adequate protein is needed while on the program to ensure that the bodies lean muscle mass is retained and not used for energy. It aso helps to keep you fuller for longer and satisfy hunger pangs.

The carbohydrate content of Ultraslim is 32-35g per serve depending on the flavour compared to 28g for TF. It is important as you all know that we limit the amount of carbohydrates on the program to ensure we remain in ketosis. It is also the type of carbohydrates that differ. We use a LOW GI sugars called fructose and lactose as our carbohydrate source while Ultraslim uses Sucrose, which is a high GI sugar. A major function of the TF program is to ensure that all components of the program are LOW GI, such as the fruit, veggies and the sachets. If somebody is using the Ultraslim powder to make their sachets and follow the rest of the plan they are defeating the purpose of maintaining a low GI diet. This is especially important for our diabetic customers.

Our sachets have been measured out to a specific weight to make sure that you are getting the right amount of nutrients each and every time you have a sachet, when mixing it with water. With Ultraslim, you have to measure out 33g (2 Tbsp) of the powder and mix it with 230mL skim milk. I don't know about any of you but every time the ultra shakes are mixed, the person would be getting a different nutritional value as they may not be accurate in measurements etc

Remember that we have put a certain amount of each nutrient in the sachets for a specific purpose and if you go and change those compositions you are unable to receive the full health benefits of the TF program. We are a LOW GI program and we pride ourselves on this fact. To get the best results and the desired health benefits, stick with the Tony Ferguson program,.....that's right it is a full program and anyone using another powder/shake is unable to access the support of the practitioners in the TF clinics Australia wide.

I hope this has cleared up a few aspects for all of you.

Sarah

Tony Ferguson Nutritionist
