Last time I visited WA (6 weeks ago) I allowed myself to discontinue with my shakes temporarily and promised myself I'd eat reasonable portions and fairly healthily (it was my 21st). Things went well for a week, and after I returned home, I found it hard to get back on track (which I suppose was to be expected). I'm back on track now, buy I just don't want this happening again next time I go away. I'm leaving in 1.5 weeks.

What do you suggest I do? Could I possibly go for 1 shake or 1 munch bar a day and attempt to follow the one shake a day program as closely as possible?

- Could you advise of the things I would eat on a basic one shake a day option, or where I may find more info on the forums about this?
- Can I have one munch bar a day (like one shake a day, just a munch bar instead of a shake)?

I'm about 15kgs away from goal so I don't want to keep holding myself up through making stupid choices.

Any advice would be more than appreciated.

Thanks!

a few questions

when exsactly is the updated pink book called the progress program coming out roughly? i need a rough estimite of when it is coming out so i don't waste my time going to my twc each week. then only to find out that its not out yet. which happend today. well not a total waste cuz i was due to get more shakes by friday anyways. and is it true theres tf desserts coming out? cuz it had that there was in the coming out soon section of the products list. but is not there any more.

is heavenly herbs aloud

hi I have just been into a health shop and found this liquid. It is usually marinated in vinegar and spices (salt, sugar, coriander and other spices) and then dried. I have been told that the dried meat is 1/2 the weight of raw meat. So for a male, a protein serve would be 110g.Nutrient Units Value per 100 grams Water g	28Energy kcal	249Energy kj	1040Protein g	39Total lipid (fat) g	10Carbohydrate	g	0.00Fiber, total dietary g	0.0Sugars, total g	traceMinerals Calcium, Ca mg	9Iron, Fe mg	4.4Magnesium, Mg mg	42Phosphorus, P mg	369Potassium, K mg	603Salt g	4Zinc, Zn mg	6.9Copper, Cu mg	0.23Manganese, Mn mg	0.022Selenium, Se mcg	57Vitamins Vitamin C, total ascorbic acid mg	0.0Thiamin mg	0.127Riboflavin mg	0.357Niacin mg	11.2Pantothenic acid mg	1.2Vitamin B-6 mg	1.26Betaine mg	22Vitamin B-12 mcg	7.6Vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) mg	0.14Tocopherol, beta mg	0.0175Tocopherol, gamma mg	0.035Lipids Fatty acids, total saturated g	3.5Fatty acids, total monounsaturated g	4.3Fatty acids, total polyunsaturated g	0.54Fatty acids, total trans g	0.295Fatty acids, total trans-monoenoic g	0.231Cholesterol mg	107Amino Acids Tryptophan g	0.248Threonine g	1.5Isoleucine g	1.718Leucine g	3Lysine g	3.19Methionine g	0.983Cystine g	0.48Phenylalanine g	1.492Tyrosine g	1.204Valine g	1.875Arginine g	2.443Histidine g	1.205Alanine g	2.296Aspartic acid g	3.44Glutamic acid g	5.67Glycine g	2.3Proline g	1.8Serine g	1.49Hydroxyproline g	0.172Calculated values based on USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference, Release 19 (2006) NDB No: 23028http://www.biltongfees.co.za/2008/The_Biltong_Story.doc

bruising easily and question about surgery

I have been bruising easily and i read on these diets it can happen. I believe it is not allowed due to the GI however the GL (glycemic load) of watermelon is actually very low. I have copied my post from the other thread for your nutritionists to have a look at and see what they think..."This is a bit tricky IMO. According to calorking.com.au watermelon is approx 7.5% carbs of which 6.2% is sugar. So its not very high in carbs (certainly lower than some other fruits we are allowed). As for the GI, yes the GI is high however the GL (glycemic load) is low. GL is the GI multiplied by the amount of carbs per serve then divided by 100. It helps to analyse food according to the carbs per serve where as i think GI analyses the effect of 50g of sugars from the food being tested (which means they used approx 700g of watermelon to test!!!!!). So watermelon may be high GI but thats because they did a test on somebody eating HEAPS of watermelon! For somebody eating an average serve, the GI should actually be pretty low therefore it should be alright to have. Wikipedia helps explain GL.... "Glycemic load for a single serving of a food can be calculated as the quantity (in grams) of its carbohydrate content, multiplied by its GI, and divided by 100. For example, a 100g slice serving of watermelon with a GI of 72 and a carbohydrate content of 5g (it contains a lot of water) makes the calculation 5*0.72=3.6, so the GL is 3.6. A food with a GI of 100 and a carbohydrate content of 10g has a GL of 10 (10*1=10), while a food with 100g carbohydrate and a GI of just 10 also has a GL of 10 (100*0.1=10)."http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycemic_loadAnyway, i just thought i would throw this info out there for people because yes the GI of watermelon may be high but in reality it isnt a 'bad' choice for fruit. I AM NOT trying to say that TF is wrong, just trying to present some facts that some people may find educational or helpful in making their own minds up. So there are for and against arguments as to whether watermelon should be allowed while on TF. I personally tell people the facts and allow them to decide if they wish to consume it (in reasonable amounts of course) or not. For those people who do consume it, they tell me that it keeps them feeling as full as an average piece of fruit and i havent found it has affected weightloss."So, what do your nutritionists have to say? Thanks!:D

Dear Angela...

many thanks for you helpful and positive replies to the questions in this forum. Now that I’m getting better and off the meds I’m back to the diet to remove those extra kilos. I have been on the diet for a month now and have only lost 1.9kgs but I’ve lost 7cm from my waist. The cms lost is great but why am I having so much trouble shifting the kgs when last year they were easy to get off? I'm no longer on medication and I’m very good with diet and exercise. I know in the end the cms count over the kilos but how can you lose 7cm and have it not show on the scales? I’m worried that I’m exercising too much as when I was off the diet I had to exercise a lot to keep it off and maintain my weight loss. Maybe I’m worried over nothing but it's so nice to see results on those scales.

medication

hi,i"m on a asthma medication called Symbicort and i did good with my weight loss in my first 2 weeks but had to go back onto the asthma medication and now my weight has gone back up could my asthma medication be affecting my weight loss i've done everything that was told to do and doing 30mins at the gym each day . dani

Staff

I have noticed a lot of comments regarding Tony Ferguson staff I would just like to say that I have experienced both great staff and some not so great. I originally joined at a Terry White chemist, I was given the book and my shakes but no consultation. I ended up doing the program for 3 days before I gave up because I was hungry all the time. At that stage I didn't even know that I could have a salad with my shake at lunch time.About 1 month later I was shopping with a friend who had to go and pick up some shakes from her local Tony Ferguson clinic at Seven Hills. My friend mentioned to the staff the problems that I had on the program and the lack of service I had received. The staff actually apologised for the bad service even though it happened somewhere else and offered to do a consultation for me. After the consultation I realised that their were so many other things that I could have been snacking on and decided to give the program another go. If it hadn't been for the staff at seven hills I would not have gone back on the program.I would just like to thank the staff at Seven Hills for the help they have given me especially Kylie and Michelle. They even send me a text message to see how I am going if I haven't been in for a while.Kat:)

Re: yoghurt

are you permitted to eat low fat yoghurt on the diet

alcohol

I am planning on having a couple of drinks at my work christmas party, and am just wondering whether I would be better off having very low caqrb beer, or vodka and mineral water?

Recipes in Cookbook Query

:hehe: A few of the recipes in the cookbook call for the use of Worcestershire Sauce. So I experimented.I whisked 2 egg whites until they were stiff then added 20g of sweetaddin granules, whisked a bit more and folded in 1/2ts vanilla, 1/2ts lemon juice and 1 ts cornflour. It is looking wonderful in the oven as it cools and has not flopped..lolWith the egg yolks I placed them in a metal bowl over a saucepan with water and added 10g sweetaddin, 1/2ts vanilla and whisked until the egg changed colour and thickened then I added 2tb water and 3tb passionfruit and 1/2ts lemon juice..Cooked and whisked for another min or two and it went really creamy. I was thinking this would be nice ontop of the pav and have 3c salad for dinner and this for dessert..What do you all think, would it be ok for my protein meal??Sweetaddin nutritional guide on boxper 10g servingenergy 170kjprotein 0fat 0carb 10g-sugar 10gsodium 01 ts cornflour has 4g carb

Almond Meal

Hi,I've been making my shakes into muffins/bread for months now using the SF to bulk it up. However, I have only just realised that there is 5.5g of carbs per serve of SF and am wondering if I could be bulking it up with almond meal instead (whilst still making sure I get enough fibre in my diet). The nutritional comparison between the two of them is below. I have been exercising quite a lot and I am wondering if I am doing too much and if I need to increase my protein intake?? My weekly exercise consists of 3 mornings of swimming which I swim approx 2.5-3kms per session in a hour and then 3 mornings of running/walking for 1 hour covering approx 6 kms. Can you please help???
