Well, on the caffiene subject and Coffee, I have consumed 2 to 6 cups of regular coffee per day, for over 30 years !!!!!!!!!!  When I went cold turkey, I broke out in a rash, could NOT sleep more than 2 hours at a time, and was so edgy that I thought my hubby would get a second home to stay at until I reached my goal weight.  However, I find that if I have ONE cup of regular coffee and then decaf if I crave more coffee flavour, then I am fine. I have cut out my lovely flavoured creamers, and no sugar, so I drink them black.  After over 30 years I find that it is the TASTE that I miss although my body missed the caffiene.  So, my mind and body have come to a compromise. The first cup is regular, the rest are decaf.

"While on the program, we recommend you have 3 cups of tea and decaffinated coffee in total per day. "

So can we have regular tea or does it also have to be decaffinated? My TW consultant said i could have 3 cups of regular tea a day?

In the litrature I got from TF it says:

"NO CAFFEINE -No caffeinated coffee, only decaffeinated coffee permitted - Upt to three cups of normal tea per day, then it also needs to be decaffeinated." I am guessing that when they say "normal" tea they mean black tea. So to answer your question, No, your tea also needs to be decaf.

And just as another point any coffee lovers out there, I have just tried the Robert Timms Decaf coffee bags and omg they are awesome. I was never really addicted to coffee and I never got any headaches but just talking from a taste point of view it tastes like the real thing.

lucky for me i never took to coffee... but diet coke... a whole different story!!

i drank it every day. could easily knock of a 2 litre bottle in 1.5 days.....i thought it would be a stretch to stop drinking it completely. despite my initial scepticisim, i have found that the diet caffeine free coke takes almost exactly the same. So, once 2.5 litres of water has gone down the hatch every day, i let myself 'splurge' with some of the d/c-free coke if i'm in the mood.....

Yes i've got a friend who is on another program who is sure that caffeine does not alter weight loss so she drinks around 6 cups a day minimum of normal coffee. Well I dont agree with her so i'm sticking to the de-caf! I'm glad I've got this post to back up my argument!

hi all

I am a newbie sign up on monday 3/11/08  is starting up on this coming saturday. I am little bit confused with the total of decaf coffee allowed. The consultant who signed me up said i am allowed o have 1 cup of coffee a day or 3 cups of tea/5 cups or green tea. then has to be decaff after.

After reading the book and the plan properly, I got confused with the no decaff beverage bits. I love my coffee ( I am a barista, work with cofees all day, currently on maternity leave which is good , no temptation for  a while) I have no problem with drinking decaf since i now few brands of decaf coffee which taste  great, I do need the caffeine though as I am a new mum constanly in a sleep deprived  state

So is that mean we allowed up to 3 cups of decaf coffee a day and no normal coffee at all or I can have 1 cup of normal coffee a day instead of the other beverage. I guess we can't have hot chocolate either except the warm up shake.

Coffee and the Dehydration Myth

Scientists define coffee as a “mild diuretic.” Drink it, they say, and you will increase your urine output and likely multiply your number of daily bathroom runs.

Until recently, scientists also generally agreed that drinking coffee causes dehydration. This seems logical: By urinating more often and in greater volume, you’re draining the body of precious fluids, right?

Wrong, according to Lawrence Armstrong, a professor of exercise and environmental physiology at the University of Connecticut.

In 2005, Armstrong and his colleagues conducted an 11-day controlled study o
