I'm really hoping that this forum gets up and running soon! This is my weakest area and eating out is hard to avoid in my job because we have to travel a bit. Any suggestions would be very gratefully received from me!

I hope there are some resturants and places to eat added soon if not even if the places are as the topic says carb friendly We need our own resturant opened up for this very reason for people to come and eat what they need with the carbs all worked out for them, lol

Totally agree with you both. I was wondering, what about Nando's? They do chicken salads without dressing. They also do a lovely chicken breast pita with cucumber/tomato/lettuce and you could have it without dressing. I wonder how many carbs are in Pita Bread though??

| Hi bubble girl We are going out for my neices 17th B'day so I called the restaurant and spoke with the chef, I explained what I needed and he has assured me that he will organise 2 meals just for my hubby and I for the night.... When we go away for a weekend we take most of our food with us and buy what we need as we go, we have lovely picnics now instead of filling our face and leaving in a hurry.. Althought I know you can't do it every day, and I know how hard it is to get a salad from a fast food restaurant with out taking out a morgage.. But i hope it helps in some small way.. Good luck

Hi there Jillaroo That is very brave to actually ring the restaurant and arrange for the 2 meals! That's great! I must try this! Thank you for passing this on!I always take my salad and shake to work (there is a fridge to pop the water & salad in during the morning)- it's just the evening occasions (with work) that I have trouble with. I suppose the trouble is that I'm a bit embarrassed to tell people that I'm actually dieting because I have been telling people that for years now, and I'm sure nobody would take it too seriously now! My life seems to have been one long diet. Do let me know what food they serve to you, won't you?

| Hi Bubblegirl Maybe try telling them (if they ask) that you are NOT on a diet.. but trying to eat more healthily (..??.. is healthily a word...ohh well it is now..lol) when people notice your soon to be noticable weight loss.. THEN you can rave and gloat as much as you want.... Maybe a few of us should band together and create "TF's Bistro"..lol Good luck Maria

I suppose it depends what area you are in. In Penrith TF they have a sign up for a cafe, but I cant remember what it is... Someone help please. I think it was in Parkes Arcade.... But yes, we definately need some ideas. Maybe even just the restuarant you went to if you found a meal that coincides with our diet plan. But remember not even Pita Bread is allowed - NO BREAD NO BREAD!!

| for those in Penrith, I often treat myself to a chicken caesar at CJ's under Domayne. Their chicken is SO moist, I think it is steamed or braised, definately not BBQ'd. I have no croutons and dressing on the side. It really is nice & only $8.50 If I go to Chinese I have a king prawn omelette, we are allowed eggs & prawns it is just the sauce that is a no no. No rice though Pat

Looking for something allowable at a resturant or cafe is something that has been really noticable. Lately we have been away from home for weekends at a time and I can only handle so many Subway salads for dinner. I have found new confidence however since starting this program and am happy to say most places in Qld where I have eaten will happily modify their menu, or even make something completely to order for you. How great is that. I am also noticing wait staff are a great source of knowledge and you can usually find out anything from mehods of cooking to having meals made specially. If I find places are not really very helpful hey I DON'T GO BACK. Thankfully I can't think of many places that I have found who aren't accomodating. Oh and a good idea is to tip staff if they are extra helpful.Happy healthy food hunting DeeGee

Wow!! What a response! Thankyou all! I can see that I must just take the bull by the horns, and ring up with my healthy requirements. I have tried the chinese food- without the rice, but still wonder what is in the sauces. We went out to an Indian restaurant with friends, and much as I love a really hot curry, it's not so good with NO rice! - and of course, NO bread of any description. My mouth was on fire! A smorgasborg situation is a good idea too- where one can put only the correct foods on the plate- and in the right amount too. Maybe in the future we will have TF friendly restaurants in every suburb!
