I've gone to La Porchetta on TF. I ordered the grilled fish and steamed vegetables; only to find that it was a huge serving of fish (4 pieces, so be strong and keep to your palm sized portion), the fish was also lightly breaded and fried, the vegetables were swimming in something oily (butter, most likely) and it also came with a huge side of tartar sauce (which I promptly put on the other side of the table from me, out of reach). My advice is to learn from my mistake (as I did) and ask questions about what you're ordering and/or be very specific with what want and don't want.

For example: I would like my fish to be cooked completely plain, without any bread crumbs or batter, using a little olive oil is fine. I also want the vegetables to be steamed completely plain, without anything added to them, please.

I've also ordered a salad at La Porchetta, although I can't remember what it was called. They were more than happy to explain the specific ingredients with me and accommodate me on making it TF friendly. They added avocado to the salad for me and served the basalmic dressing on the side, as I requested. It was lovely.

Good luck!

well, first of all, congratualtions, second of all, good luck!

I find some suggestions pretty harsh.. what i suggest is eat up on your salads first so you dont feel so hungry and tempted!! We all know the hungrier we are, the greedier we are, doesn't take Einstein to work that one out.

If worst comes to worst, ask for your pizza toppings, minus cheese and pizza base on a plate.. still very nice, but doesnt sound as though your doing something weird   After all, its just a tad of whatever meat + all vegies.. you cant lose   and for gods sake.. ENJOY!

Hi,

Last time I went to La Porcheta I had the Veal fillets (not sure of the name) with Napoletanan sauce and asked for steamed veges no potatoes and no carrots so I got a plate full of Brocolli and meat. It was very nice but if you don't like brocoli then you can ask for the salad just don't eat the olives. The meat is lean and is not crumbed there was a bit too much.

I ate there today for lunch.  I had an avocado salad, it was lovely, but asked for the dressing on the side so I could chose how much I put on.  I have been on it a week today and have lost 3.3kg
