Hello there!

Although i am new to this and all i had planned to do was look and not post.. I seen this and had to!

I am a smoker and although i didnt quit for ages (3 months) I am a bad smoker i love to smoke.. 30 a day more if i am drinking!

someone at my chemist recommended  this book to me and you smoke while you read it... its not your typical stuff.. smoking is bad for you ect...its different!

I read it in 5 days i wanted to finish it that bad! its called allan carrs easy way to quit smoking.

i have managed to convice 8 of my friends to read it and 6 of them quit plus numerous other people i have met along the way.. and still dont smoke! (unfortunetly i have caved...)

anyways its worth a read and you just have to read it, smoke throughout the book and at the end if you want to quit, quit. if not dont.

anyways whatever you decide to do i wish you nothing but the best of luck!

tams

Count me in ladies. Since I quit my job today I realised I can not afford to smoke and do TF. And I have picked TF over smoking. So I haven't had one at all today -- yay me!

Ohh nikki sorry to hear you lost your job. But welcome to the thread.

I am disappointed in myself. I tried to quit cold turkey like the last times and just cant do it this time. So I'm taking the "cut down and stop" method. I am still having 5-6 per day for a short bit then I'll cut it down further, then fully stop! It's not easy I can tell you, but we can do this to become healthier (lol and not so broke!) Knowing others are going through the same thing makes it alittle less daunting too Good luck everyone!

That's great Nikki, keep it up!

Don't beat yourself up Kitty, just keep trying and believe in your ability to quit and be in control over the cravings. You are completely capable and you can do it.

I've quit smoking more times then i can remember (usually when it the day before pay day lol) but i quit 2 weeks ago when i started TF.

The first week i didn't miss them at all. now im starting to crave a bit. but im being strong. im not caving in again... i quit for 3 months at the beginning of the year so i know i can do it. I just have no self control when other people around me are smoking.

i feel like one now.. lol

Hi Kitty I gave up smoking 13yrs ago they were expensive then so I can imagine how unaffordable it would be now. I got hypnotized I know it dosn't work for everyone but I think alot of the reason for that is who u c . I don't know what area ur in but the person I c,n was in the Newcastle area of NSW Good luck to all in ur QUIT effort.

Well ladies count me in. As of tomorrow (Monday 12th November) I am going to try and go cold turkey.

I went cold turkey once the day I found out I was pregnant and didn't touch a cigarette until about 3 months after I had given birth. Mind you finding out I was pregnant scared me enough to quit but this time it's more about money.

We can afford to smoke but it's just such a waste!!! My husband and I both smoke and spend about $800 a month on cigarettes! We smoke a carton each a week, and a carton is $100!

I could be putting my share of $400 a month into a savings fun and think of the clothes I could buy when I reach my goal weight!

So wish me luck and I will probably be posting in here everyday so I don't cave in. It's going to be so hard with hubby smoking around me but I know in time I can do it.

Cheers,

Aliesha

congrats on taking another step closer to a healthy you. I gave up smoking in feb this year after tons of nagging from my hubby (i personally didnt really want to give up ...mainly because i have always enjoyed smoking). Both my hubby and i smoked nearly a packet a day each which worked out to be around $150.00 per week. Since feb we have put most of that into a savings account saving for a home deposit. Our reward for giving up smoking will be our first home. Do you have a goal to work towards like you do with weightloss?
