Maintenance is a Low GI / Low Fat diet, the staff work out your protein serves, fat serves, dairy serves, carb serves etc., by your weight that you want to maintain at....then you can choose from a selection of foods from each catagory.
you can have cereal for breaky,
sandwich for lunch,
yoghurt and fruit for a snack,
protein and vegies, yes, potatoes/rice/pasta peas etc., are all back in but in moderation, you learn along the way while doing the diet proper food choices and portion sizes so you can carry this on with you after TF, Maintenance is just a step to keeping the weight in check after you get to Goal
Have I helped you understand?
I hope so XXMal

OMG so we can actually go back to pasta and rice and potatoes ..... that has just made me want to push myself even more to get these last 5 KGs off, that is awesome.

Mally,

I just wanted to know how you have gone with your maintenance diet and how long you have been on it? do you slowly put the weight back on and then have to cut back on the carbs again or is it quite easy to keep off?

Cheers

Nic

Mally,

I just wanted to know how you have gone with your maintenance diet and how long you have been on it? do you slowly put the weight back on and then have to cut back on the carbs again or is it quite easy to keep off? I kept mine off for 14 months without a hassle, then for 3 months while packing/in between/shifting I went over to the "Dark Side" 3 meals a day and it has haunted me to this day, I only have .600g to go to be back at my Goal weight again, so it is very doable EXCEPT if you overdo the high GI foods for an extended period of time, the odd meal out here and there had no effect on me, but my piggery period certainly did!!! it was definately of my own doing and nothing to do with the Maintenance way...
I will be coming up to 2 years 01/07/08 since I reached my Goal of 66kilos, so really not too bad at all, the most I gained in all that time was 6kilos...it doesn't take much to get it back off  either thankfully, but this time I didn't go back to the 2 shakes I'm just choosing more wisely and it's slowly coming off...
Hope in amongst all the waffle you get the gist :O)

Cheers

Nic
