Dear Tfers

Some great news for Tfers that are on a no added gluten diet.

There are no new gluten free flavours as such, but some of our existing flavours have been classed as low gluten as there is no added gluten during their production.

As with the Banana and Wildberry we can not guarantee that they are 100% gluten free.

The no added gluten flavours are;

- Shakes - Banana, Chocolate and Wildberry.

- Soups - Creme of Chicken, Field Mushroom, Asian Curry and Mediterranean Tomato.

All these flavours should be suitable for Coeliac's to consume.

Kind Regards,
Rita

"Coeliac disease is a medical condition and is a permanent intestinal intolerance to dietary gluten."
http://www.coeliac.org.au/coeliac-disease.htm - The Coeliac Society of Australia

This means that if one is a diagnosed Coeliac, they would not be able to have any of the TF shakes as they may still contain gluten.

"In people with coeliac disease, the body has an immune (allergic) reaction to gluten (a protein found in wheat, rye, barley, triticale and possibly oats). This causes damage to the lining of the small bowel which results in a reduction in the surface area of the villi or finger-like projections of the bowel. Both genetic and environmental factors play important roles in coeliac disease. It is a genetic condition, but may be triggered by other factors, some as yet not identified."

Although there is no added gluten i was just wondering if there is any ingredients in the shakes/soups listed that contain gluten?? or is it just that they are made on equipment that the gluten containing shakes/soups are made on so they might be contaminated??? My husband wants to do the diet and he is coeliac.

Hi,

There is no added gluten to the listed shakes or soups; however they are made on the same production line as the ones with added gluten.

The equipment used is washed down first before making the no added gluten flavours but we cannot guarantee that there are no traces of gluten left behind.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind Regards,

Thanks for that info. I didn't realise those soups were gluten free. I haven't been having the asian curry since being put on a resrticted diet. I shall try it again.

My ticker - height 175cm age 45 - this is my maybe goal, I shall see when I get there.

My hubby - height 188cm age 48  - Started at 120 kgs, now at 97 kgs - goal around high 80's (not currently running a ticker).

Both started TF 29th Nov 06 - weigh in on Wednesday mornings at home for tickers.

     Thanks Mally!
