Winter, I love it - I can go for walks rugged up without having to sweat becoz of humidity.I also love beautiful, sunny winter days - they are glorious & great for walking.I love having soups in winter. I liken it to being a caterpillar incubating in its cocoon waiting for the transformation into a beautiful butterfly.

My dreams are mine to live. I owe it to myself to fulfill them.

I find it easier to lose weight in winter too.  I live in the northern end of Oz so its warmer up here, great for daytime strolls around the park.  I love soups and Slow cooker casseroles, so easy to make, and most of mine are made from the allowed list....

some of the soups I make -  cauli and leek soup, mushroom and chicken stock, fresh tomato and basil, brocolli soup, thai spiced pumpkin (I add cauli to bulk it out a bit), mixed veg and beef stock.

My slowcooker recipes for casseroles pretty much are some cubed meat, some water, onion, a pack of dried soup mix, a tablespoon of herb mix (I own several sorts) and sometimes either a 100 ml glass of wine or a tin of chopped tomatoes.  Let it go for several hours on low.  Depending on the meat and what herbs I've added, I end up with a tasty casserole.  Another favourite is chicken pieces thrown in the cooker with garlic and a jar of salsa.  Its a yummy mexican dish!

I find Winter easy peasy and always lose the most over winter.

This is why:

  1. I think it's because soups are more appealing and not carb loaded
  2. I prefer steak and vege's over chicken and salad
  3. The crockpot is never empty!
  4. I walk more, because it's cooler and hence more comfortable - I love to walk in the rain
  5. I go to water aerobics, because I love to have the spa afterwards then get into my jimmies when I get home
  6. I even garden more, because it's not so  hot and tiring

As much as I love the ocean.  I prefer winters because I love nights to be dark, and those long hot days are only great if you're lying by the pool, otherwise I have zippo energy.

I find that winter is a good time to get motivated to loose weight. If you’re feeling a bit cold one day you can fill up on a warm soup for lunch instead of your shake and then for dinner you have many choices like yummy filling casseroles. You can always exercise because the gym is always open even if it is cold and raining! (I always think to myself I always feel warmer after visiting the gym). I find mixing my exercise regime up with different exercise classes keeps things interesting and I stay motivated. As for clothes for motivation I think of those zip boots I like so much and going down a size in my jeans.

I find losing weight during winter to be a bit of a challenge....I hate getting out of bed as it is but in winter it is even worse!! I just make myself though....otherwise I can't get to the gym before work and chances are that I won't see a very good result on weigh-in day.

I also struggle a bit with the salads and shakes when it's cold.....I love salad but it's just not overly enticing when it's 5 degrees outside!

I try to keep motivated a few different ways.

  • I just try to remember that weigh-in day can't be put off because I need my shakes to keep going.
  • I want to look nice when I go to the rugby....so I want to be able to fit comfortably into my jeans, jumpers and tops without having to worry about a muffin top!
  • I try to think a few months ahead.....summer will be coming around in no time and I want to look fantastic at the beach.
  • Playing winter sport. I attempt to play a bit of sport and while it was hard to begin with, it is actually getting easier with every kilo I have lost. So for me I know that keeping motivated and sticking to the diet is really going to help me to become better at those types of things.

Having said this, I am still struggling. THis has been the first really cold week we have had at home here and it's hard not to swap the old salad for a 'warm tinny' for lunch!!

We promised our 3 kids (7, 11, 12 ) that we will take them to the Gold Coast Theme Parks over Christmas (we live in Sydney....so It's a BIG DEAL for us to get up there!)  I want to enjoy it too and go on all the rides and do the waterslides etc.....scary thought at the moment.....AAGGHHH.  It's June now...... so I have 24 WEEKS  to get myself into a presentable state!!!  LOL!! I have to do it or I will be sooooo disappointed!
