I was just wondering if you are on the Tony Ferguson diet are you able to have a small bowl of pasta say once a week or once every 2 weeks or something I know that its carbs but if you did some exercise afterwards etc?

No, all the main carb foods are not allowed, there is an allowed foods list pinned in the supermarket forum, try there to see what is allowed.

Of course you can eat whatever you like but the pasta will kick you out of ketosis and then your weight loss will slow down. Maybe read what the basis of the TF diet is all about. There are lots of posts from TF staff to explain it all.

cheers
Juz

Strictly no pasta, as yes it will kick you out of ketosis.

Although, interestingly, i consume have consumed 1 small bowl of homemade pasta with a 'healthy, low carb' pasta sauce since ive started and Ive still lost 2.6kg in 2 weeks. Mind you, i exercise pretty vigourously during the week.

Yes, exercise won't make any difference with getting back into ketosis. Leave the pasta for maintenance. You'll soon get over the cravings for it and find nice alternatives. Have you tried cauliflower rice yet? That feels carby!! Enjoy.

I understand that exercise has nothing to do with ketosis and I dont exercise to get back into ketosis, i exercise to burn off the pasta i ate. Carbs are the first source of fuel for the body, so personally I dont feel that bad having a bowl of pasta because i know that i burn it off. Especially when you do a 1 hour body attack class that burns 540 calories, i find that if i dont have a carb based meal then i feel like fainting half way through and cant keep up with everyone else.

But truth be told, i will save regular pasta for maintenance but i will still enjoy the odd bowl. The figures dont lie, 4.2kg lost in 3 weeks, i cant be doing that much wrong!

My sentiments exactly Benno...our low intake of calories is essentially what is making us lose weight, the ketosis idea is just an extra bonus that allows us to lose as much weight as we do! I think its great!!

Also, it allows those that dont want to exercise the ability to lose weight solely by changing their diet only.
