Hi all - sorry in advance but i really need to have a rant!!!!!!

My husband and I visited Sumo Salad in Joondalup (WA) tonight, and ordered a low GI chicken salad (me ), and a chicken caesar. After standing there for 2-3 mins trying to decide, I started to order with the young girl at the counter - to be told that "we don't serve those salads after 8". I then looked down at my watch to see it was 8pm on the dot - which I said to the girl, to be told "not by our clock" - which was conveniently hidden from view.

Her attitude to customer service was apalling - after seeing us choosing from "those salads", didn't think to inform us that they weren't available. Instead, let us order, then smirked when she said they're no longer serving them. Yeah, awesome, have your fun at the fat people's expense...

We'd decided to try Sumo Salad after being recommended to it by fellow members of TF - only to be sorely disappointed by customer service alone.

As 2 people struggling to make healthy choices and stick to a diet whilst out, and being told at 8pm (in a shopping centre food hall, which was jam packed full of people having dinner as it was DINNER TIME) that their main menu items weren't available - and after that, as many of you know emotional eating side of things kicks in and we could have easily gone straight to McDonald's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The good news?????

We walked right past the fast food, fatty Chinese and kebabs and went and got yummy Subway salads instead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not knocking Sumo Salad's food in any way - as i haven't had a bloody chance to taste it! But i'm sure it's yummy and i will definitely try it some other time when i'm "allowed".

Thank you for reading, apologies for rant

Good on you for making a good decision after disappointment at Sumo Salad.

What types of salad do they serve after 8pm if not healthy ones?

What a little cow! Have only been to lakeside once since it opened up again after the developments, and didn't end up eating there - but sumo salad would have been the choice for me

It's really yum, so I hope you DO get a chance to try it. I had it when I lived in Melbourne.

Have you tried to Whitfords or Karrinyup stores?? Or do you live in joonders?

I agree with Kinopio, they are delicious, pity about the rude attitude you encountered.

Well done on passing by the other unhealthy outlets!

I had the same experience at Sumo Salad, Myer Centre in Brisbane. I arrrived around 2:30 pm only to be told the grill had been turned off for the day and no warm salads were served.

A sign to tell customers this would have been helpful!!!!

I believe the stars keep shining all throught the night.
I believe if we just keep trying it will be alright.
I believe that someday we're gonna find our way.
And I believe in a beautiful day

Lost the plot and started again!!!

Well i'm extremely happy right now and just had to share my update! I got a reply from the store owner of Sumo Salad in Joondalup...

Dear Nicole,

Thank you for your email in regards to your experience at our store. We are sorry that you have to experience such a situation with one of our girls.

To be honest with you, we are not aware that this is happening. As far as we know the made to order salad order are always open till quarter to 9pm. Therefore we did some investigating today upon receiving your information.

The last Thursday night crew has admitted of the incident and received a warning that it should never happened again in the future.

Once again we thank you for your time to lodge the complain and we really appreciate it.

Regards,

Liga Tjandra

Franchisee

YAY!!! I made stuff happen!!! And I will definitely go back there now
