Week 34 weight: 121.8 kilos. Loss for the week: 0.5 kilo, 26.2 kilos overall. Just in a bad place at the moment after straining my back and wasting the long weekend doing boring things. Not really in the mood to say anything. My weaknesses this week: 8/10 Bit of a so-so week again, again a couple of minor choccy weaknesses, I can't think of a lot I ate wrong for the week. Exercise: 4/10 Again the exercise was too low, I've had a very lazy few days but still feel really low on energy. Alcohol: none Caffeine: My normal 2-3 per day Water: Still pretty good, the 4 fibre tablets and 1.2 litres of water during the day is continuing. Plans for next week: No great plans just need to make sure the weight goes down.

| Week 35 weight: 121.5 kilos. Loss for the week: 0.3 kilo, 26.5 kilos overall. Not much really to say, very busy at work and that was used as an excuse to have a pretty ordinary week. At least I have strung some losses together now. My weaknesses this week: 6/10 Couple of takeaways and the choccy snuck in again, nothing outrageous but the effect of a time poor week. I need to learn to manage that better. Exercise: 2/10 Big week at work which limited my free time for my normal walking etc. Alcohol: none Caffeine: My normal 2-3 per day Water: Still pretty good, the 4 fibre tablets and 1.2 litres of water during the day is continuing. Plans for next week: 2 weeks before going on holidays, would like to get under 120 by then, so want a big week this week.

Week 36 weight: 121.1 kilos. Loss for the week: 0.4 kilo, 26.9 kilos overall. Thanks to the Healthy Rewards challenge I’ve been consistently losing weight for the last two months. While I’m only losing half a kilo per week average, its all good, as long as its going the right way. More and more I’m looking at ways to make this a permanent change anyway, so its not like it’s a rush to get to my goals by a certain time, just as long as I get there. My weaknesses this week: 6/10 Some chocolate One KFC dinner – fillets and nuggets Almonds, macadamias and pecans after work (instead of the All-bran) – higher fat but lower carbs Couple of small home cooked brownies Exercise: 3/10 – wet weather and a busy week at work gave me an excuse to slack off too much Alcohol: None Caffeine: My normal 2-3 per day Water: Still pretty good, the 4 fibre tablets and 1.2 litres of water during the day is continuing. Plans for next week: The next 2 weeks should be interesting. The healthy rewards challenge is over and we are going on holidays next Saturday for a week. I’ll be using the time I’m away to test out a “shake+primal” diet, combined with lots of exercise, so I’m expecting to keep losing weight. I learnt my lesson from the birthday binge back in August, its just not worth it to have a major slip. So my goal is to get to under 120.0 when I weigh-in in 2 weeks time. Its interesting, back in Feb when I started my original goal was to be under 100 by then and that’s still 20 kilos away, but that’s fine. While I havn’t done a PhillipK, its working, that’s the main thing. |

Week 38 weight: 123.0 kilos. Gain for the 2 weeks: 1.9 kilo, 25.0 kilos overall. On holidays for the last week, thought I did ok because the exercise was huge, walking nearly all day every day, diet was pretty good also, stayed off the carbs for most of the time, yesterday flying back to Adelaide wasn't good though. I'm hoping I just had one bad high carb day which will wash out this week, not much point saying much else until I know whether it comes good after a week of strictness. Edit: Ok I've always tried to be honest here, so I better add a few more things. Firstly, I'm really disappointed to have 2 kilos back, sure it may only be water weight etc, but after a week of a lot of exercise and trying to stay low on carbs I expected better. The proof will be in the next week to see if its just this 2 kilos water buffer. Also, when I started back in Feb 09 I wanted to be at 99 kilos now. I've lost 25 (hopefully a lot more next week) and have 24 to go. While I'm happy with the 25 gone and the obvious benefits I am frustrated that the figure isn't lower. Some of the positives for the week, I was able to use a normal seat belt on the plane, I was able to go on any theme park rides I wanted to (the superman ride is great), I was able to buy some clothes, some of which fit well, and some T shirts that are XL that "just" fit now but are way too tight but which will be my new measuring stick. My goals are the same as they were back in Fat Feb, get under 100 kilos initially and eventually down to 85. Also, get tanned, build lean body mass and just generally feel fitter and healthier. While I'm jealous of those that can drop a kilo a week until they get to goal, the key is not giving up, I'll keep doing this until I get to at least 99 kilos and I will get there. I'm going to change the content of this diary from now on though to make it leaner I'll post my weight each week and anything new, but I'll be trying to keep it more concise and less repetitive. Lets see how part 2 of this journey goes, bring on Drongo's summer My weaknesses this week: No point trying to measure it in relative terms, I didn't think I did too badly but the scales tell me otherwise. Exercise: 8/10 Did a lot of walking in the last week. Alcohol: Plenty, a lot of XXXX gold, a few bundy and cokes, some red etc Caffeine: My normal 2-3 per day Water: Was all coffee or alcohol, very little water on its own. Plans for next week: To see what effect a strict week makes.

Week 39 weight: 122.6 kilos. Loss for the week: 0.4 kilo, 25.4 kilos overall.Due to a back strain I spent a lot of this week doing very little and my diet was horrible and yet I lost weight. And the previous week in Queensland I walked all day every day and gained 2 kilos. Life can be strange. Trying to convince myself to go very strict for the next 6 weeks leading up to Christmas. Sounds good in theory, lets see how the practice goes

Week 40 weight: 121.3 kilos. Loss for the week: 1.3 kilo, 26.7 kilos overall. Very happy to drop 1.3 kilos for the week and be back pretty much where I was before the Queensland trip. Felt like a very normal TF week, had one dinner out friday night at a Mexican restaurant where I bent a few rules but overall wasn't too bad for the week. Was very hot here (> 35) all week and so the exercise was almost non-existant, just walking whenever I could. I would like to get to 118 kilos by Christmas (30 kilos total) hold that weight over the christmas new year week and then keep going to get under 100 by my birthday next August. cheers |

| Well so much for getting to 118 kilos and holding it over Christmas, this morning, first day back at work for the new year, I weighed in at 124.4 kilos at home. Pretty much 2 weeks of eating whatever I wanted (but avoiding bread, rice, pasta and cereals as usual) has done some damage. But anyway, thats history now and today is the first day of year 2 Last year can be summed up as 6 strict months where I lost 20 kilos, followed by 4 or 5 months that were less strict where I lost 5 - 7 kilos. What I plan to do now is set myself the goal of losing 25 kilos between now and June 30 this year, which will take me under the 100 by then. So rather than thinking about the whole year, the focus is on the next 25 weeks and doing in them what I did in my first 6 months, i.e. strict and good weight loss. So here goes, day 1 of year 2. And just as an aside, if at the start of last year anyone had said to me would I have been happy to lose 25 kilos for the year, I of course would have been. Looking back on 2009 I am really happy with the result, but thats over now. Time to look forward, reset goals and get strict.

| Hi Drongo, Just thought I would mention that we have starting the Bunny Challenge which runs for 13 weeks, until Easter. You pledge how much weight you like to lose in that period and then go for it! I have been reading your weekly log and noticed you mentioned that you did good with the health challenge and thought as you are keen like the rest of us to move some lard, that you might like the support, motivation and the friendly competitiveness that a challenge brings. The link to the Bunny challenge thread is: http://forum.tonyferguson.com/Topic528102-25-1.aspx And in the words of Toyota, pleaseee consider! lol And finally can I say that I totally enjoy your weekly log and the honesty in them. It give someone like me who a newbie who has considerable weight to lose that it can be achieved, slowly and steady and with detours.
