Hi, looking for some support here.  I'm 60 kilos overweight, and need to do something.  I've left this far too long and it will affect my health soon. I started two weeks ago, but keep coming off track again due to work lunches and dinner.  Can anyone help?

Hi ASM,

I hear ya buddy! I have a long journey ahead of me too; i've been on TF for about 2months now and have really come to rely on the forum for inspiration and support!

Like Mally says we are all here for each other so persevere and utilise your new TF family! You've already made the hardest step by deciding to take control of your health and getting on the program!

Keep us posted on your progress, it's great to share our victories no matter how small they seem to us at the time!

Hi welcome to the forum

Do you have a role in the planning of work related meals?  I think these meals will always be a problem if you don't take the opportunity to assert yourself and let your companions know that there are some things that you simply can't eat anymore as you are looking after your health.  It may mean phoning ahead to a restaurant to check if they can help you out with a TF friendly option (including a stack of veggies), avoiding greasies and fast food and venues where they do not serve quality low GI food as an option.

good luck - let us know how you go.

cheers

Jacinta

Week 1 @ 20 June 09 - loss 2.1kg - good start, getting organised was my biggest challenge .
Week 2 @ 27 June 09 - loss 1.7kg (cumulative 3.8kg). Happy with progress - late lunches need to be stopped.
Week 3 @ 4 Jul 09 - loss 1.8kg (cumulative 5.6kg). Light exercise is helping with my progress, starting to get very busy at work.
Week 4 @ 11 July 09 = loss 0.6kg (cumulative 6.2kg). A few sneaky extra pieces of fruit may have caused a slow down.
Week 5 @ 18 July 09 - loss 1.2kg (cumulative 7.4kg). A great result even after taking a day off and living it up at Lizard Island.
Week 6 @ 25 July 09 - no loss or no gain (cumulative 7.4kg) TTOM so no loss is not a big deal for me.
Week 7 @ 1 Aug 09 - loss of 1.8kg (cumulative 9.2kg).  Work clothes are getting quite loose
Week 8 @ 8 Aug 09 - loss of 1.1kg (cumulative 10.3kg).  Woohoo, I can see the 80's from here
Week 9 @ 15 Aug 09- loss of 1kg (cumulative 11.3kg).  Hmmm, when can I buy some new clothes
Week 10 @ 22 Aug 09 - loss of 0.4kg (cumulative 11.7kg).  A half hearted result for a half hearted effort.
Week 11 @ 29 Aug 09 - loss of 0.8kg (cumulative 12.5kg) Well into the 80's now.

Thanks everyone.  I wasn't expecing a response so soon.  Let alone such supportive and helpful comments.

So yes, during the work dinner on Wednesday I'll find out where we are going and call ahead getting details of the menu, or I will try and get out of it.  I only started my job, so don't feel comfortable telling anyone there that I'm on Tony Fergusson, but as one person commented it's time to take responsibility - so I will try my hardest to be prepared and combat this on my own for now.  On Friday, I'll be away from the office, so will make sure that I have a bar, fruit and plenty of water in my bag.

I've contacted my gym trainer again.  He is down witht he flu so can't make tomorrow, but I'll go anyway and do a 30 minute cardio.

So I'm back into this starting tomorrow, as I've run out of TF food and my friend is dropping it off tomorrow.  However, I will get the supermarket today and this week make some additional food which I can freeze.  Less excuse to eat out then as well.

Thanks everyone!!!!!!!

So I'm at 129.9 now....let's aim for 128.9 for next week

well done - I agree that you may not feel as though you need to share that you are on TF with your new work colleagues but there is scope to be assertive in letting them know your dining preferences. You never know you may be helping someone else in the group who would like to make healthier choices but feel pulled by the status quo of the crowd or are stuck in a rut.

cheers

Jacinta
