Hi All,

I am curious to know if anyone goes swimming as their primary form of excersise.
If so, do you think it is a good fat burning excercise, or better for just toning?
I am thinking to go 3 times a week, and walk on the other days.

Cheers,

im just about to start swimming too... i went to a dietitian a few years ago and she told me it wasnt the greatest fat burning exercise as most people dont get their heart rate up enough... but then i hear other things that its great... im basically gonna use it as toning... my plan is 3 morning a week do swimming and the other 2 morning do treadmill and some weights then 5 afternoons a week i will go to the gym. and weekends ill do treadmill and weights. wow that sounds like a lot when i put it all in writing. lol. but yea, ill get my fat burning from cardio and gym weights then toning from swimming. hopefully it helps our problem spots. even if it doesnt 'burn fat' its still good for you, and i guess the days you dont swim, if you go for a walk then you will burn fat. any exercise helps

Goal to get back to (pre NZ weight):

Hey there...
Swimming is a wonderful source or exercise...

I used to swim competitively back in the day. It's great for any of us who have injuries in their back and want to take the strain off our bodies...it is more difficult to burn fat but it's not impossible....Set yourself some goals...Like 50m in under a certain time...and do 5-10 sets of them...believe me you'll be puffing after that!!!!!!
Best ofluck with it all...I'm planning on getting back in the water aswell
