Hi everyone,

Just wanted to see what everyone thinks of my current work situation and what you think I should do.  I'm all for giving in my 2 weeks notice at the moment I have simply had ENOUGH.  (prepare for rant)

Ok so I've been working at my current job for nearly 5 months now, and work hours are 8 30 to 5 with an hour for lunch.  So it all begins with working hours to start with, now sometimes/fairly often I need to stay til almost 5 45 6pm- yes thats not that serious, but its the bosses attitude when you ask for say an extra 10mins at lunch for an appointment for example, he'll say oh well you can just have half an hour lunches for hte next week to make up for it with no acknowledgement of all the over time that I would technically have worked up - but we dont get paid for it..

He is moody- and I mean MOODY one minute he's all happy and chatty the next second he's crabby..I need to ask him to help me - since I'm only new and dont have experience and he sits there huffing and puffing and sighing away as if its hte hardest thing in the world to help someone you hired etc.  and he always makes a song and dance if he has to get a coffee like geee its so tough when the boss has to make his own coffee and so on....basically what I'm saying is he really treats his employees like slaves rather than paid workers.

Which leads me to today.  He was standing right in front of our stationary cupboard, and I literally mean approximately 10 cm away from it and says to me, oh can you get me a glue stick please- so yes I get up and get it...and then he asks me to glue something on and prepare a document I've  never done before and I had to ask for help and he went off at me, yet again...I have honestly had enough of this treatment

I seem to have an awful run with bosses/managers and never seem to find a nice one :-( what do you think, am I over reacting about wanting to quit???

Sorry for the essay

I hope things get better for you or you find that "great job" you deserve :O) not too good on advice as I was my own boss and I was fantastic lol of course the only staff I had was hubby LOL I wish you luck, bosses like this make it hard for others, seems like he has the " the world owes me a living disease" which is the biggest pain EVER!!!!!

Yay one point in favour of two weeks notice

To also add into the situation:  I asked one of the senior staff a question about something (as she sits in the desk beside me) that the boss had asked me to do, and I just wanted to make sure it was right because I would've got in trouble....

Well I got in trouble anyway...for asking for HELP!!!! and then she also got in trouble for helping me.

Oh the frustrations of this place! (at least they dont have websites barred ) and to make things worse, when I get grumpy/frustrated or upset I eat bad things, I had calamari and chips at lunch, on the + side I threw nearly 3/4 of hte chips away and had my salad instead but i still ate it and went out specifically to buy it

Lol I'll count that as 2 points even though its neither way

Yep being your own boss would be fantastic, except never really being able to escape from work!!  (I've seen my parents sitting at home on weekends working!!)

LOL It'll come quicker than you think, one day a young face looks back from the bathroom mirror then next thing you there is this white haired person staring back

stay young by staying young at heart regardless of the outer packaging and enjoy lifeenjoy your youth

I don't think you're overreacting at all -- I wouldn't be able to cope working for someone like that.  Start looking for a new job! (Bet you that's why the last person in your role left too!).
