Fiji is a fabulous place for a holiday.

I went on the Blue Lagoon Cruise which takes to you the islands where some of the Fijians live.

I stayed at Naviti which is on the Coral coast which was nice but the Coral coast does not have the nice beaches you see in the pictures. I would look at staying at a resort on one of the many islands, these would be a lot nicer. The Fijians are such beautiful people, I loved it there.

I would definitely go back again.

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has been to Fiji im getting married there next year and ive never been

overseas and its all a little scary!! can anyone tell me what its like?

I went to my good friends wedding at Sheraton Denarau Fiji a couple of years back and it was fabulous - and the marriage is too

They arrived 2 days before and had to go into town (15 minutes away) to get the licence sorted.  The day of the wedding was low key and stressfree!  She had her hair done by someone she'd never met before and it was beautiful...

I did her make-up after that, and then toddled off to make sure the guests were seated when they arrived.

They were serenaded by beautiful romantic music and it all went without a hitch on the beach.

The PERFECT wedding - I hate all the hooopla with big weddings, and Angies Fijian Wedding was the most fun and stressfree event I've ever been too.

Good luck - you'll love it!

Edit - PS Most hotels will offer a wedding package which includes, brides hair, actual service, photographer - of course other things can be added.  We had a small party and they gave us the table on the waters edge which was decorated beautifully for the occassion at no extra cost and we all ordered from the menu - FAB

Friends of ours got married at the Shangri-La resort on the main land.  It was FABULOUS!  There were over 40 of us went.  It's great because we could do things together or split up and do whatever we wanted.  The wedding was lovely on the lawn with a beautiful sunset behind.  I would certainly recommend that resort.

Good luck!

MAIN GOAL - THIS IS THE LAST TIME!

A few tips:

Make sure your hairdresser in the package can do things other than african american braids - also make sure you take your own hair accesories such as hair pins. Mine didn't even have a hair brush or mirror and yet I still paid $70aud for my hair.
Take your own make up or make sure they know you're fair skinned, my make up artist only had darker make up.
Most things in Fiji are of much lower standard than what we're used to, I was served the wrong food at the reception for example. Even though I had designed the menu, spoken with the chef etc etc
Take lots of aeroguard
The standard of the photography package included in the wedding package was terrible. My mum could have and did take better pictures. Thankfully I paid 5k and flew one over from Australia. The video was also terrible. Maybe put some cameras on the beds of the guests.
If you go out to an island for pictures, be aware of nudity. I have several naked people in the back of some wedding pictures.
I wish I'd supplied my own music for the reception. They played music not in English and bad rip off songs (covers) for most of the night. I asked for Amazing Grace for the walk down the isle. I got something in Fijian.

I could go on and on.

My Fijian wedding was perfect though, even with all the quirks. I'd take that over a traditional wedding anyday.

You'll have a great day, I guess what Im saying is... have a sense of humour and be as light hearted on the day as possible.

oh my goodness now you've really scared the crap out of me lol

i was looking on the net and came across a really good photographer called yoshi someone or other,

apparently comes with rave reviews and i have seen some of the pictures they are amazing. im trying to get in contact with them instead of organising the island photographer.

i'll make sure i take all my hair accessories/makeup etc...

ergh...is this going to be more trouble than its worth?

Your day will be stunningly beautiful.

My pictures are stunningly beautiful.

I strongly advise to do your best getting in contact with the photographer though.

On the day I was pissed off I had my hair down with a pigtail in the back but looking back, who really cares. Its about the two of you thats important

Very excited for you.

You'll have a blast.

i went to fiji in january, arrived just after the floods cleared.

was absolutely amazing!

i stayed on the coral coast, at outrigger on the lagoon. they have a wedding chapel over looking the ocean. i spend a few hours at the day spa, and the view from up there (where the weddings are held i think) is absolutely amazing!

the weather was perfect, the people were fantastic, despite the natural disaster that occured the week before.

be wary if you take malaria tablets. they said fiji didn't have malaria, but then with the floods they were worried about an outbreak, so off to the doctor i went to get some... first day i was sooo burnt! despite applying sunscreen religiously. stopped taking the tablets and didn't get burnt again

some of the highlights for me were meeting several other aussies who'd been there a few days longer and finding out about a 'secret' cafe nearby that served food really cheap (the resort doesn't like you eating elsewhere so don't tell you about it), the village tour we did, and the day trip we did to one of the islands. we didn't get to do the one we wanted to do, because there weren't enough people interested because tourist numbers were quite down after the floods. the one we did was ok, but not as good as the one we should of done. but what made it amazing was the fact we were on a tinny in the middle of the ocean and got caught in a storm (we were all fishing from the tinny at the time).
