Hi folks,

Haven't been on here for a wee while as I had to undergo surgery last week to remove a cyst. It was meant to be an overnite stay in hospital but turned into a nightmare week. The surgery went well but I have had complications from Day 2 onwards. I sought advice a couple weeks back as I had just begun my TF journey again and was stoked at getting down to 80.2 kgs. My goal is 75 kgs.

Some thoughtful people told me that my body needed all the right nutrients to recover (including carbs). I took this on the chin and thought righto I can do this and allow myself 2-3 weeks revoery before getting back into the swing of things.....well one week in and Im not so sure.

I wont bore u all with details but I am on a VERY SLOW road to recovery. I had organised 2 weeks off work but now may be looking at 3 or 4 weeks. My poor body has really been through the wringer this past week and I feel completely out of control.

I didnt eat much at all for the first 2 days - then felt well and was ravenous so had food I would normally wouldnt touch. I felt guilty about it but moved on. The hospital food is not the greatest but I did my best to eat what i could and being a diabetic i had to be extra careful. Let's just say it was carb city!

I had 2 days where I felt so nauseous I could't hold any food down. I am in a more stable condition now but know that I have to be really careful about what I eat. I'm terrified that the carbs are gonna pile the weight back on and I have worked far too hard to let that happen.

I have promised not to weigh myself for at least another week as my body is still swollen from the surgery and I am menstruating so I wouldnt get a realistic idea anyway. I hate feeling out of control. I know my main worry should be getting better and being mobile etc. I'm more worried about the fact that I cant exercise for at least a month!!!

I'm going out of my mind with worry yet I find myself really looking forward to the light custard and low sugar icecream dessert tonite.

Can anyone give me some words of inspiration? I need help!

Hi hun

Sounds terrible! You poor thing. Don't worry about your weight etc. Your first priority is to get better. Your health is far more important than weight loss, especially at this stage.

You probably wouldn't have piled on the kilos like you imagine you have. We always think that way but its not that easy to pile on kilos with one week of eating carbs. So what if you put on a kilo or two? You will work hard to get rid of it after you get better!

Now you hold your chin up and just concentrate on getting better and outta the hospital! Rest will happen on its own

Take care of ya hunnie. Its not the end of the world

Love n hugs

Emma

I know what its like to recover from a surgery, you just dont feel yourself....and its hard to get into a positive frame of mind at times. I've also had a cyst removed many years ago, I also have been through a traumatic emergency cesarean which the recover for that was over 10 weeks, and the drugs I had made me bloat up double my size that I couldnt even walk properly.

You just worry about your health and eat what you need to eat to recover, thats the main goal here right now. The sooner you concentrate on that the sooner you can recover and the sooner you can get back to the gym!

Your so close to your goal, I think some timeout for yourself to aid in your recovery will do no harm to that at all, and after when you feel up to it, you will have that determination to get to that goal and we will all be here to support you to get to that point.

Take care of yourself and rest as much as you need.
Keep your chin up, keep your mind in a positive place, and relax and you will be better in next to no time.

XO

Thank you both so much for your comments. They were just what I needed to see/read etc. I will give myself one more week to get over the swelling, effects of drugs etc and then sit down and have an honest reflection period. I have got many awesome social occasions coming up that I was using as my incentives to lose those last 5 kgs. Will pick 1 or 2 as my new 'get to goals' and go from there. I am now wondering if there is any form of light exercise I can do? The zumba kit I was going to buy will now have to wait.

Time to take my pain killers and do a spot of reading.

Hey hun

what a time to be thinking about exercise!! you could do yourself more damage if you rush back into it -- let your body heal first then take it easy and do a little and build yourself back up to where u want to be.

You have been doing so well, and you know you will get to your goal, so this is just a hiccup in the middle thats all
