Hi all. Just wanted to introduce myself. I weigh 131kg's and it's not good. I am 34 years old, have a little (nearly two-year-old) girl and a loving husband. I've been reading the success stories and so many of the before scenario's have been my life. I had heart surgery when I was 22 months old, and being this overweight, as I have been most of my life, is NOT good. I guess, I have to say, the most scariest, as with most people in my position, is the fear of failure.

Yes, I am one of those who have done Jenny Craig, Lite n Easy etc. I like to believe though, to be true to myself, they failed me on some part.

Anyhoo, I went into Terry White's new chemist at Chermside (Brisbane) today and Jenna kicked me off with my starter pack. I bought all of the jellies

I am one who does need support, so, it's nice to have this little hub to come to. Hope I meet lots of lovely laddies and liddies who can give me guidance and advice on my journey.

So! Here is to the start of my journey, for me, my family and for life.

Nice to meet you all (in advance)

Thanks so much for the warm welcome, girls. You are just lovely. I'm already worried about failure. Is that normal? What worries me most is I guess, dinner, and then the weekends. On Lite n Easy, I didn't really have to worry too much because it was all prepared for me, but, sadly in the 3rd and 4th week, their food started to be somewhat of a letdown. Not-so-fresh fruits and vegetables, and other icky stuff. The sad thing also, is that they didn't even care when I told them.

I'd love to hear what you girls did to make dinner time easier. See, I start a new job on Monday (since having Ellie Claire back in Feb '08), and am sooooo excited. I won't be sitting at home anymore wondering what to eat to pass the boredom. I'm just worried that I'll be too tired once I get home from work to think about what I am going to prepare. Finish at 4pm, pick up Ellie Claire at 4:30pm and then have to prepare dinner by the time we get home from daycare at about 5:15pm. Ellie goes to bed between 6:30pm-7:00pm, then I have to make her lunch, and then I'll have to make my salad to go with lunch the next day.

So, please, shoot some ideas my way. Because I'm bordering on returning to icky Lite n Easy, or throwing in the towel, already LOL

Thanks in advance.

Hey gemma, congrats on the new job, and starting the tf journey.

A lot of people have found that organisation is the key, i would suggest, you spend the day tomorrow preparing your meals for the following week, as well as snacks (this also could include the kids lunches etc - some of them can be frozen also).  Also keep in mind that if you do vege sticks, and dips up, the kids/partners can also take them to school/kindy/work also (keep celery in a container of water in the fridge though so it wont wilt)

The receipe thread on the forum and also on the home page, is full of brilliant ideas to keep your meals and snacks fun and definetly not boring.  There are also great receipes with how to use your shakes and soups and turn them into something completely different (muffins, puddings, custards, even snake lollies)

It soon becomes a habit and way of life which you will be able to carry on after you have acheived your goals.  And because you have to do some of the meals yourself, you are also getting in the habit of the right type of things to cook for yourself -- cant get much easier then that.

Best of all, you have the forum and you can come online just to say hello, or ask a question or to even vent, and someone will ususally be around to help you out - theres also the tf consultants who are also there to help you should you want to give them a call or send an email

You know you can do it, all you have to do is beleive in yourself and tf will be right there beside you

20-22 August - TF health & wellness retreat being held in nsw -  http://www.tonyferguson.com/retreat

(i want to go cheaper, and if we get three or more people to go we only pay $499 for a weekend of fun & motivation)

You guys are just the best! That's made me feel a whole lot better. I printed out all the main meals last night and am going to make them into a folder. Before my husband leaves to take the littlies out today we'll decide what we want for the week. For lunch, I'll just have soup and salad for now, until I really get into the swing of things.

Sandy, you look just amazing. Well done, darls!

Thank you so much again for the fabulous advice.

I'm sitting here freaking out a little, worried about dinner time. I am going to start the program tomorrow. I don't want to have to constantly pick out 7 dinners per week from the Tony Ferguson website. We've usually just cooked up a meat with a side of vegetables, and with either a rice or pasta packet (Continental) and that's pretty much it. Nice and simple. Other nights would be Lattina pasta with sauce, and then I may do a roast chicken or lamb leg another night. Is there somewhere here on the forum that tells you an easier way to do dinners?

Lunch would be pretty easy. That's just a shake or soup with salad or vegetables. I was just wondering if there was a diet out there you could do with every day ingredients. Looking through the recipes I've printed out, yes, I wouldn't mind doing them once or twice per week. But, would rather just stick to my old routine, instead using leaner meats, and staying away from the avoid foods list i.e. spaghetti, rice etc etc. I don't want to have to go out and fill my cupboard up with more and more condiments, dried herbs etc etc

Does any of this make sense?

We are simple eaters, nothing flash. That's all.

Thanks again for the lovely welcomes.

i've only been doing tf for 2 weeks now and have stuck to our "normal" dinners.

I just omit the carb option from my plate and double my serve of vegies. On nights I do pasta for dh & the kids, I put a frozen fish filet in the oven and do a bag of frozen vege up for me.

Doesn't take much longer to do the 2 meals as whilst i'm doing the pasta the fish is cooking & veges are in the microwave! Also means the serve of pasta I don't eat is used for dh lunch the next day!!

I'm sure once you start and get into the swing of things - it will become easier.

Don't stress yourself about something that may not happen (ie. failure, binging etc). You will succeed if you put your mind to it!!

Hi there... ive been on and off for a long time... I always eat fairly the same as well ... I alway have protein - chicken or fish especially crisp skin salmon....no meat really.. and i roast pumpkin and have 3/4 of the plate as salad - two diff lettuce and cherry tomatoes and fetta (not supposed to) and 1/2 avocado... Must say the pumpkin is my saviour.. feels like you are having a carb and something solid.... I often cook 2-3 meals really and am a very busy shift worker and mum of active extra curricular activities... you just have to it darl... And remember fresh is best...

oh and don't forget the cauli rice... i would die without that too... makes the best fried rice.. i put bacon and egg it sometimes and sometimes i just add some salt reduced chicken stock powder and have my protien on it Yummmmmmy

Good luck with everything and see you round the site...

Happy Losing,

Kirsty
