| HI I'm sure i am not the only person doing the tf journey with a work away /fifo hubby, im also doing this journey secret squirrel style and not told a sole. Its a bit hard for fifo/workaway/single families as they dont have the support at home or around them like others do who have those who can keep them on track, so i thought we could have a thread to yak to others in the same boat My hubby is working shutdowns atm, which mean he can work away from home for any length of time from 6weeks to longer. As this job has gone over i dont expect him home until approx dec So come out everyone and let us know who you are.

hey renee, thanks for the reply - yep i do use the number and speak to the consultants, i was after more of a general get together chit chat about weightloss with people who all come from similar backgrounds as some of us dont have the support already at home as some others do I have a hubby who does fifo (which is fly in fly out) positions and is away a lot for work, so i thought there might have been others in similar situations, i also live rurally, so this forum and the number is how i find out information to help me along the way - hense why i put up the post hope you have a fantastic weekend

My hubby used to do FIFO 3 and 1 roster...I always lost weight when he was away then put on when he got back. At the moment we have moved to support his career...living in a mining town, so I have no family support and really no friends yet. I am doing the stay at home thing as there is no before school or after school care here and the school days are very short compared to interstate so I can't really hold down a job. ( anyone got any work from home ideas!!)
I do like some aspects )less stress than my normal job as a special ed teacher) of it and I really should be able to concentrate on my diet more than I have recently but have had visitors - gone today
So I know what the FIFO partners are going thru.
Good luck to you all
By the way..no TF here in the north of WA...have to get it posted and not having to jump on their scales leaves me less accountlable.

| hey sherie, gosh how hot are you over there ???? i have friends over there i think they are near or at pialba. quite often i send my hubby over there lol, i only apply for those positions on his behalf when hes been home too long and driving me nuts, then i really wonder why on earth i did send him out there cause i cant go and visit hahahahah, and the shuts over in wa are always longer then the rest of the states. I thought i was isolated out here, but your more isolated then me And i do agree if you find any work from home jobs, let me know too

My partner almost had a FIFO job, but turned it down...then we couldve moved to Pannawonica in WA (we have friends that work up in the mines there) so he could get mining work, but he turned that down too. Hmmmmm not happy about that, but thats another story.
I do have a few people I know that have FIFO partners and it really seems difficult, especially with a family...so my hat is off to you girls in making it work.
Just think MM when ur hubby comes back you after that many weeks he is gonna get a lovely surprise. Christmas come early

| hahaha, u know what vixxsen, when you get use to them working fifo, they cramp your style when they come home hahahahah i dont mean it in the wrong way, but because you do things on your own, and you have a routine (as thats the only way to make it work) they come home and stuff it right up seriously gone is the routine out the door - let me explain - they take remote for the tv AND your favorite chair, they put alcohol in the fridge (if they drink), people you dont see the entire time the partners are gone, suddenly appear and want you to be nice and they have bbq's and leave the toilet seat up, dont take the roll off the hanger when the paper runs out, dont pick up after themselves and seriously once you got yourself organised and they do this, all you are doing is looking forward when they ping off again for work lol And if anyone says any different, they either a) are only newbie fifo partners - it does take a couple of months to get use to or b) they are lying hahahahhahahahahah

He doesnt have TAFE today...and when he does the house is cleaner, I can do whatever I want and watch whatever I want....when he is home its like looking after an extra child...actually he is messier than our son!

I used to LOVE him going away for 4-6 weeks at a time *I'd miss him terrible when he went of course, but still loved it haha* but then I'm a 'need my personal space' kinda girl. Of course I loved him coming home too, it always felt new and exciting - even after 4 years. I think absence makes the heart fonder scenario really works for me!

| Ohh exactly sandra lol, and when they come home, you cant have one of those 'ohh stuff it days' where you do absolutely nothing all day lol, So long as the house etc is in order when they come home they dont know any different hahahahahaha My hubby was told one day by one of his big mouth friends that was in my jammies still at 3pm, he knows what i am like, and his reply was, thats cause shes getting ready for me to come home hahahahah what made it worse was my jammies looked like everyday relaxing clothes (light trackpants and tshirt etc), i wasnt going anywhere, it was raining so who really cares what i did in my house. His mate soon stopped dobbing me in, i dont know why he had to feel that he had to ring up and tell my hubby everything he saw me do - it lasted about a week, before i found out who it was and just cracked it. If i wanted a keeper i would have gone to live in a cell lol. Hubby didnt much appreciate it either. I do agree though, i love my hubby coming home, and i love going to visit him (i treat it as a holiday , but i dont like em getting under my feet, and i love my own space - and hubby loves his too - so it works out really really well for us. Somethings i do miss though, such as the cuddles and the excitment when somethings happened and you really really want to share it face to face and cant -- that sucks. And while they are away its almost like being single parent Just so long as they make up for it when they come home its okay though My hubby is the best hubby anyone could ask for though (even if he is a pom)
