I work fly in fly out myself and Im going over to Samoa in January to help a friend who I havent seen in a year so I'm hoping he will notice the difference! I dont work a long roster so my family back home see me more often then most and they havent said anything yet but im hoping they'll notice a difference soon

what do you do wagurl?

Im sure your friend in samoa will notice a difference when you see someone often its really hard to pick a difference, even in yourself, thats why most dont recognise a change when they look in the mirror, its not until they see the photos and do a comparison that it hits them of how much of a difference there is.

My hubby  worked away for 7 months once and I found it really hard doing the single parent thing, people would invite me to things and I wouldn't want to go on my own.  But on the upside I found it really easy to diet as he didn't fill the fridge with treats and alcohol!!!

He works shift work now which I find really difficult as he never seems to be eating at the same time as me.  I'll make dinner for me and the kids then he'll come home about 10pm with Macca's or Pizza or something and offer me some!!!  So hard to resist!!  He's been really good just recently - he doesn't buy anything for me anymore (he thought he was being romantic!).

Slow and steady wins the race!

Prob a silly question, whats FIFO???

Ive read it on this one and have no idea.

At the moment Ive been trying to restart on my own here. Not having much luck. Its not about all the times that we have fallen off, its about all the times we pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off and start again. We will win in the long run, Im detirmined of that.

Thanks Mally!!!

My hubby's work takes him away from home & I'm raising 3 kids alone. It's hard & I find that most of my motivation is in "revealing" the new me when he comes home!

He knows that I'm doing TF & 'supports/coaches' me via the phone every night. I'm actually finding it easier to stick to it this time around as last time when he was home alot, I found myself wanting to eat more & slack off with the plan.

hahah sheri, i like your definition of fifo lol, i will have to remember that one when hubby is home for too long

Ohh jo, what a kind hearted hubby you got there, perhaps you might be better off making an extra plate of dinner for him to eat when he comes home, so he can think your being romantic that might deter him from bringing in the pizza and the maccas.

Hey comet, thats what i am doing, except i haven't told my hubby what i am doing, although he is aware i am on a 'health kick' as the kids have been telling him about me changing the bread to whole grain and edible white items in the house being converted to brown . He can see what i have been up to when he comes home although i did tell him the wii told me i lost weight, and he was exclaiming how some of his workmates say their wii has helped make them fitter and they have lost weight also (they take it with them when they go away for work)......

One thing you could try comet, is before your hubby comes home, you could convert all the foods to a more healthy and lower carb alternative, so if you do slip its not going to be as bad - like i have done with the bread - wholemeal bread is much better for you then white (my kids wont eat wholemeal though, but will eat whole grain which is still better then white).

It looks like the shut my stepson is on, finishes next weekend, which means he will be making his way up here after that, and hubby will be following after the post shut -- gosh i hope theres another shut happening after that, otherwise thats a long xmas break

Wholemeal & multigrain is the only bread we eat in our house aswell as low GI rice & pasta & legumes. I pride myself on making sure that my family eat fresh, wholesome food & I'm lucky that my kids don't complain, probably because they don't know any different! It's not so much of eating the wrong types of food when hubby is home, it's the amounts of food that I will consume! I had to learn how to be satisfied with a smaller portion of what we were having at meal times. With hubby away I think that I have mastered that, it's just a matter of being able to control my eating habits when he comes home! Lol!

love the way you put it sheri, its definately popular up here (am at a 1400 man camp)

Mountain m - i work as a p.a and receptionist. i really enjoy my job and its easier being on tf up here then at home because i cant duck out to the shops and buy things when im craving them (eg white choc tim tams are the best! lol)
