I'm going away next week for the first time while on TF and a bit concerned. My friend who I'm going with is overweight thinks dieting is a load of crap, so she doesn't actually know I'm on TF, and doesn't mention the fact that I've lost weight.

Anyway my problem being is that I'm concerned how to stay on track while away - mind you it's only for 3 days. I don't intend taking any shakes with me as I don't want to listen to her opinions on the subject whenever I have one.

Wondering if I just focus on low GI foods or does someone else have any ideas. We will be eating breakfast in the unit but out for lunch and dinner.

I will "not be a happy chappy" if I undo all my good work.

My first bit of advice would be to say stuff her and stick to your program as usual.

But I know how hard that could be so better to be prepared.

I would have  cereal with skim milk for breakfast -porridge or special k is good.  Or choose an egg on toast - use grainy bread.  Have a cup of tea with it.

Have a piece of fruit for morning tea.

Lunch have a salad with protein like ham or chicken.  If you are out and about try subway salads.

Afternoon tea have another piece of fruit.

For dinner have your meat and veges and ask them to leave off the potatos or just don't eat them.   You could also try a stir fry vege dish or

For dessert have a yoghurt or fruit salad or skip it all together.

Make sure you drink plenty of water. And for drinks when out you can have diet coke or coke zero without doing any damage.

Keep a bag of sugar free lollies in your handbag too.

The main thing will be to keep busy during the day so that you are not always sitting about eating.  Try to get out and about walking as much as possible.

Godo luck and I hope it all works out for you.

ON TF MAINTENANCE SINCE 11/08/09 AND KEEPING IT OFF!

v  In 42 weeks (14/10/08 – 24/8/09)  TOTAL WEIGHT LOST 40.5 KILOS!

v  I started at 110.4 kilos and dropped to 70 kgs.

v  My waist measurement dropped from 98 cm to 74cm.  24CM LOST!

v  I started out as a size 18/20 top & 22/24 bottom.  I am now a size 10-12.

v  My BMI was 39.2 which was obese. I am now in a healthy weight range.

v  THANKS TF I COULDN’T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU!!

I recently went on a trip for just over 2 weeks. Before I went I created a buffer - I have reached my goal and have been maintaining it for about a year and a half. I worked really hard and lost an extra 3 - 5 kg  and while we were away we mainly had entrees as a main. And we did lots of sightseeing activities that involved walking. We go out fairly regularly and so my main staple when we go out is 6 oysters kilpatrick and a salad as a main. At dessert time I usually opt for a skinny decaf latte to top off the night. Or if they have some of those mini treats - I get one of those and encourage others to try some of mine. I only gained 1.5kg on my trip which still brings me in under my goal weight.

The upside is my husband realised how unfit he was and is finally doing something about it.

Just wanted to thank you for your advice. I took it all on board. I stayed on track fairly well except for a few times but hey! that's life.

Anyway after I weighed in when I came back was exactly the same weight, so I can definitely live with that.
