Hi everyone,

I have had a disappointing week this week, with a meagre 0.1 loss to report. In reflecting on my week, I realise I haven't been having 2 shakes every day, or the two pieces of fruit every day. Some days I just have a shake, huge (acceptable) salad, and protein with huge (acceptable) salad or veges. I might be going a bit overboard on the salad dressing/sauce factor, but I don't think so...

What are peoples thoughts on eating less= lose more or eating less=body holds onto weight?

At the end of the day surely it is about calorie in, calorie out, isn't it?

I have exercised more this week, but not enough to build noticable muscle mass I don't think.

And, some days I haven't been spot on with my water...

Would love to hear what people think

I will be keeping an eye on this thread for the answers, as I have been wondering the same thing.

Sometimes I dont drink a full shake, and I certainly havent been eating the 3 cups of veggies a day, I have been rationing out what I have as I dont get paid til this week. I also have only just been drinking my 2lt plus over the past few days since taking up walking on the treadmill.

I can remember being always told that if you put your body into starvation mode it will hold onto what it's given, the same as with water if you don't drink enough. I'm not sure if it's a fact though.

Since being on TF I have lost 17kgs, and now a fitter, healthier 56kgs and I can say that I eat very well. I rarely feel hungry and if I do I have plenty of diet jelly, or lebanese cucumbers on hand that I snack on. As far as I remember the only times I have had trouble is when I'm on night duty. Firstly I'm awake all night but then have trouble sleeping in the day so you are awake a lot in a given 24 hour period so when do you eat, have the shakes etc. I must admit though that sometimes I have more than the 2 serves of fruit, that's my downfall but I have never had the treats you are allowed. I just don't want to tempt myself.

In getting back to your problem I do remember having trouble eating everything TF said but it soon became a habit. I suppose I did eat well before TF but just the wrong things.

Another point is that the energy is needed to keep your metabolism going strong. In replying to your increased exercise, I know TF say to exercise, walk etc at least 3 times a week - I don't. I have a very busy job and am on my feet all day or night so cannot find the energy to go walking when I get home. I do do a lot of gardening though.

I also will be following this thread.

Good luck but not sure any of this helps.

I know the weeks that I have all allowed foods and drink loads of water are the weeks I lose the most. Remember you are trying to form good eating habits, so having your snacks and required meals are all part of that

The reason you have smaller meals throughout the day (not just on this diet, but when you're eating a healthy diet)... is because this keeps you from getting hungry and binging, and also keeps your metabolism going.

So you have breakfast and your metabolism goes 'yeehah! full pelt ahead!'... and then it thinks 'uh oh, its been hours and there's no food! Better slow down my pace.. just in case'... then you have lunch and it says 'EAT LOTS.... I couldn't be having food for hours! :O'... and sometimes it'll say mean things to you like suggest high carbohydrate foods like pizza or maccas and make you crave them because it wants its carbs.

So it in calorie intake/outake in the end, but there's a lot of research thats gone into why you should eat healthy snacks during the day because it keeps your metabolism chugging along and therefore you burn fat more effectively.
You're still going to lose weight without them, just not as fast
