Im a 27yr old army fiance who is in process of relocating back to Adelaide from Darwin.  I have been on the roller coaster of weight issues since a car crash in 2002 then a second major one in 2004 then a major work accident that has seen me have about 12-13 leg operations since Aug 05.  A bad run. BUT i did get onto a diff weight loss program and was able to lose 30kg in 2006 and kept it off until about Oct 2007 and have since put on around 14kg.. so kept over half off but its not enuf...

I want to be be back to how i was when i was younger but also i want to be COMFORTABLE... not how i am now. I want to wear nice clothes not big baggy ones. ANd i dont want to have my fat days!! Im over them.

I signed up today with the aim tomorrow a start date... but with the move in less then 2wks... and a 8day drive interstate...may play a WALL but i hope i can muster courage to be able to maintain it. I dont necessariy eat BAD, i dont eat often enuf and when i do, i dont get that FULL signal. So hopefully i can re program mind. Iv tried the OPTIFAST VLCD diet but failed as it tasted WRONG... i cldnt stomach much and only one flavour. I bought a 2wk supply of TF with the aim of finding sm that are suitable... 4 of each flavour to give myself a promising start.... Also do they work out a goal weight with u cos i didnt get that in my consult which doesnt really give me anything to aim for and im not sure if my AIM or GOAL is too low, or not low enuf.......

Im 82kg. I want to be 62-65kg.......at the end of this...... 70-72kg before the end of jan 2010!

ANY HINTS, TIPS, SUGGESTIONS???  I have a fit and healthy fiance who although says its my choice, has the ability to sabotage me by buying himself stuff i cant eat and then i fall off when on my own. The only option we have is HE BUY NUT PRODUCTS.... highly allergic and i know i cant eat it!!   Will power isnt my strong point and he said that tonight i have to resist the temptation... HOWWWWW???

Anyway, iv had my spiel and just hope im not windging and can find the strength and support i ned to get through this next fight of my life.... cos i feel its my last chance to be who i want to be!!

Hey deanne, welcome to the tf journey Gosh, things must be hectic at your place atm with moving etc - for your drive dont forget you can get munch bars too now - they should help you while driving Perhaps putting all the tempting foods well out of eyesight in the fridge and the cupboards might be the way to go - as they say, out of mind out of sight, and if you put the foods you can eat within reach you are more likely to reach for them.

Check out the receipe threads, theres some really yummo receipes in there and im sure you will find something in there to stop boredom of variety  , something else to remember, is you dont have to drink your shakes and soups, you can turn them into other foods, such as puddings, custards, piklets, cakes etc

Also dont forget to put your water for the day in the fridge, so that you can ensure that you get enough into you (in this heat atm, i think everyones getting the water in lol). Dont forget to take your chromium also, that stops any cravings for about 5hours

Dont be afraid to call the tf consultants should you need a hand, and remember someones always around on the forum should you just want to yak etc

Thanks mountain maiden.im deprived of sleep from last night- 5am i fell sleep and up at 7am. I think i worried i wld fail and just cldnt get things outa head to sleep.

I think im so hell bent on suceeding that everything is kinda taking back seat.... sleep is number one thing I NEED so going back to bed for cpl hours... at least i can. Recovering from knee recon a few mths ago and still not back at work so can afford the hours i sleep today.

One reason that has prompted me to start this journey is i lost my brother 2nd Aug in a horrific accident (that also went thru head last night- it does when im over tired) for which i greatly miss and i feel i have to do this to stay alive and remain healthy for the time I HAVE LEFT. He isnt here and i cant change that. I CAN CHANGE ME THOUGH.  Each day is a struggle and i was NOT eating and i know that can contribute to being overweight.... i know that now and realise things just cant continue. I need to be living, not dying. He wld throttle me if he knew i was not looking after number one now. I have to make him proud too. ANd the only way i can do that is be proud of MYSELF... Might sound wierd but it is the only way i can deal with his death- hoping he can see and hear me from wherever he is.....

I had my 1st shake today...... at 8am. My fiance came home from guard duty at work (army) and gave me a glass of Coke Zero- i refused as it wasnt caffine free. WOW... how did i do that. I told him not to put temptation in front and when he did (only took 30mins from time he walked in door) i conquered it....... for now. I dont want to fail and if i do, i will pick self up and just dust self off. There are buscuits in fridge, there is soft drink but iv resolved self NOT to have it. Iv bought caffine free zero and can have 3 cans (just under-bought a 24box) a day but with all the water, i am not sure i will want to. I wld have in the past, but today something feels diff. I put the can back Matt got for me (he swapped the zero for caffeine free can) in the fridge... i didnt want it yet. Limited number for day i think and have to make it last!  I dont know.  The move will be hard but i intend on sticking to it. Doing what i can during the day to stay true to the diet.. i have to if i want to get to goal weight.

Anyway, im going back to bed. EYES ARE GRITTY from lack of sleep so get a few more hours before lunch...I think im focused in right place....water is in fridge ready to go... 5litres ready for next couple of days!  everything is in place- just have to get my vegies later today!!  YAY.....hmmm maybe not. BUt fake it till i believe it is my motto!!

Thanks... its going ok. Get flushes of nausea.. but apart from that it ok. Drinking upto 3litres of water each day so doing pretty gd. Is the water limit meant to include the shakes, mine doesnt so prob drinking more then that.....

Im making use of the jelly we are allowed to have, have 4 hard lollies but forgotten to have my fruit at mid morn and arv tea. Is this a prob?? Eating my vegies at tea time.... is this wrong?? I just dont feel like vegies at lunch with a shake!! Not a combo i wld enjoy!! Esp on the run.. im 'have shake and run' time frame of late.... will this have a weight loss impact?

I crave my fav meal of rice and soy sauce (plain i know-but yummy for me)..... dont have it often but im wanting it now..not sure if its a SALT thing. Im ok with the caffine free drinks- only haveing 2.... compared to my 2lt prev. My fiance is happy- there is drink left for him by the time he gets home..... havent deviated at all but only day 2!!!  Can i be confident i wont be naughty! I have had several things put infront of me.....and been gd!

How do i curb low sugars levels...... i assume this is y i am get nauseas, dizzy, sweaty and headach....just feel sick....? im hydrated so its not that! God i hate diets......

I hope i get to work thru this feeling cos although i want to be GD, im not sure i can let it remain this bad.....sick feeling i mean!!  ANY IDEAS??

Wel, day 3. Iv been 99% gd as that 1% is i think i had too much protein... roughly 80gm i think... i am not sure....i made the eggplant curry in the SEASON cookbook. BUt substituted eggplant for CAULIFLOWER, CELERY, CARROTand CAPSICUM. I think i did the right thing by adding the extra vegies as it bulked it up. We doubled up the reciepe for extra meals in the wk..... i should have weighed the raw meat to see how many pieces of steak there was..... this is a lesson learnt...but once i realised i was able to stop before i finished it and fiance Matt put it back (its only us eating it so). But i must say, it was SOOO NICE. I also did the cajun pumpkin pieces. And i had some extra salad to fill the VEGIE requirements.... and iv just had some jelly to fill me up! Im still due a piece of fruit but not sure i will have it. Havent had much water today... iv tried but been so busy trying to get the house sorted before we move out in a wk...... ughh.  Matt did raise his concerns that iv made it difficult for self since we are driving from Darwin to Adelaide....and im in the INITIAL stages....he thought i should have waited til arrived in adelaide but i said aslong as i have a decent healthy meal in the evening.... i should be ok. NOt sure of the state boarderlines regarding fruit and vegie from NT to SA.....planned to take loads with me.... hopefully it plays out that i can. Other wise my nightly meals will be full of VEGIES and have to settle for fruit when i can get it.... will investigate this! Fingers crossed.

Iv been so gd i keep being tempted to deviate but i am remianing strong....iv got lollies remaining from before my diet and iv not had ONE!!!!  Surely this strength doesnt last!!  BUt i dont want to just throw it out- a kind of test too!  DIET IS AS FOLLOWS:

BREAKFAST: Shake

MID MORN: Banana

LUNCH: Shake

LATE ARVO: Nectarine

DINNER: vegie and beef curry, pumpkin bites and salad.

SUPPER: Jelly + Multivitamin

Is there anything else i should be doing (apart from water- i know iv been slack today but the last few days has been 3+ltr each day so) ??? I do need the chromium as mine is now out of date from a previous diet......and fibre....tomorrow will get it all.

Hey deanne, great to see you still on your journey

Im not a tf consultant but i think i can answer most of your questions - just remember you can always ring the tf consultants on 1800 612 644 if you need to.

When you wrote the above you were on day 2 - so you are going through the detox stage.

The 2ltrs or more water you are to consume on the tf journey is in addition to the water you add to your shakes.

Tf recommends that you do have your vegetables and your 2 serves of fruit each day - this keeps up your vitamens, minerals and fibre intake therefore keeping your body in balance.  You can add your fruit to your shakes & salads also and to your cooking - there are loads of receipes where you can use your shakes and soups with fruits, such as buiscuits cakes etc

Its great your eating all your veges, but try to spread them out throughout the day - things like vege sticks and dips/salsas, stir frys, soups etc that are made from the unlimited veges

Your low sugar levels could be because you did not include your fruit on your diet on this day - which could also be a cause of you feeling nauseous.

Im also wondering how much you actually ate on this day as you did feel nauseous when you did write on the forum. While its great your taking advantage of the jelly, i could be wrong, but did you just eat your shake & soup during the day, and have a meal at night and drink lots of water and eat jelly? You said you didnt have any fruit and you had your veges with your meal at night

If that is the case, then i can undertand why you were feeling ill.(you also could have been feeling ill from caffine withdrawels also).  You still have to eat throughout the day - make yourself snacks, and spread out your meals throughout the day.  You dont have to have your shake/soup at breakfast and lunch, you can have them for morning/afternoon tea, or make up deserts etc.

I would suggest you head straight to the receipe threads, and check out all the receipes that have been put up there.  there is a wide variety of tried and tested receipes that you can safely eat while on the tf journey

**********************

Hey deanne, it's great you included fruit in your meals today I am still concerned, as it doesnt seem you are eatting anything much during the day. Are you eatting your min of 3 cups of veges a day?

If you look on page 25 of your tf manual (red & white book) you are suppose to be eatting 120g of protien - there are suggestions of how much this is on pg 25.

Rather then reaching for the jelly if you are still hungry, reach for the extra peice of fruit if you havent taken it, as you do need to include all the fruit, veges & protien for tf to work properly.

If you dont follow the program properly your body could go into starvation mode, and store food rather then burning fat. Not just will that happen, but you could start to feel faint, anemic etc.

Keep in mind the jelly has the chromium in it, which will curb hunger pangs and cravings, just ensure you do keep to the min requirements of the tf journey.

Would you please write down your food intake as a food and exercise diary, and when you go in to your tf consultant tomorrow for your fibre etc, take it in and let them have a look at what your doing - they might have some suggestions for you to make things a little easier for you

this might help you keep with the diet, remember to eat ALL allowed foods for optimum health and well being...

~Mountain-Maiden~has done a great job with help here :O)

Start a diary and write down your daily foods, water and exercise to make sure you are getting enough food...

for women it is 120g protein for you non shake meal, you can have your allowed vegies/salad in any way you like to make them, raw, cooked or made into a soup, they are allowed freely and unlimited throughout the day, diet jelly is also unlimited daily, and the 2 fruits keeps your blood sugar more level and the added fibre will be valuable....

here is the allowed foods list: http://forum.tonyferguson.com/Topic279610-9-1.aspx this might also be og help and remember to contact MM, myself or staff if you need any further help...
