Hi Bigboy,

I too am a smoker, but I figure I will work on one thing at a time - I have lost 15kg with tf so far and once I am down a bit more I am going to start on the smoking thing.

I found in the past it is just TOO HARD to work on everything at once and I would rather lose the weight more than anything.

Hope this helps

I joined the Tony Ferguson diet two weeks ago and lost 2.3kg in the first week which was great.  I weighed in today and lost nothing.  I was EXACTLY the same weight.  How is this possible?  The consultant suggested that it may have something to do with my menstrual cycle.  Have others experienced this?  I need reassurance that I will continue to lose weight.... please!!!

hey cc7 yes i have been there ! I think that fluid retention is a issue at that time of the month. The same thing happened to me but the weight is coming off again now . I have only been on tf for 5? weeks and have lost 7 kilos now.!!

the revised goal was

30 kilos - at first i couldnt imagine

loosing so much and set my goal for 22

 kilos. then

25 then ................hey

""lets round it up to a neat 30 ! ""

Are you having too much salt? It will increase water retention.

Are your serving sizes correct? It is easy to err on the generous side.

If you are eating carbs, you will retain more fluid. Check the carb content of EVERYTHING.

Muscle weighs heavier (but is smaller) than fat, so if you have been exercising, you may be losing fat without anything showing on the scales. Use a tape-measure to judge your progress - rather than scales.

It is not the nicest topic, but if you are constipated - or even just haven't emptied your bowels before weighing, there can be quite a lot of waste being weighed too. Try to weigh in the morning after going to the loo and before eating or drinking anything.

A variation of 1 kilo either way is nothing to be concerned about - unless you continue to gain every day or week. Take a good look at exactly what you are eating, drinking and doing.

Previously lost 22 kg in 16 weeks on Atkins' - ok, but very hard to keep at it long-term. Gained it all back whilst fighting rectal cancer (due to steroids and dietary requirements).

Main goal = improve my health (lower my insulin levels to prevent getting diabetes).

Secondary goal = improve appearance and general wellbeing. Have more energy and handle stress better.

Gap from August 2006 - re-starting on 19/3/2007 at 83 kilos (1 kilo heavier than previous start weight).

       Start = 83 kilos. BMI = 32.42.

       1st week = 81.0 kilos. Lost 2.00 kilos. Total lost = 2.00 kilos. BMI = 31.2.

       2nd week = 79.0 kilos. Lost 2.00 kilos. Total lost = 4.00 kilos. BMI = 30.9.

       3rd week = 78.0 kilos. Lost 1.00 kilo. Total lost = 5.00 kilos. BMI = 30.5.

       4th week = 77.6 kilos. Lost 0.40 kilos. Total lost = 5.40 kilos. BMI = 30.3.

Sick - so another gap where I wasn't really trying and weight varied up or down 200 grams. Now starting over.

7th week = 77.4 kilos. Lost 0.20 kilos. Total lost = 5.60 kilos. BMI = 30.2. (Almost out of the "obese" range).

Hi, I am just wondering can you eat nuts on this program as in the booklet it's not in the section of foods to be avoided but reading the information that you have supplied under the heading of WHY AM I NOT LOSING WEIGHT you have nuts and seeds quoted. I have been on this TF diet for over a week now and have not lost any weight (stayed the same). Would eating nuts be the reason as I am a vegan and I was thinking that by eating nuts I am having my protein. Also I still have one cup of coffee a day with no sugar and a dash of lite milk.

Thanks for any advice that you can give. Steph

Hey All,

I am getting really demotivated :-( This last week my weight has stayed exactly the same... and I was bloody starving all week....

I broke the diet last night and this morning! Oportos and gloria jeans banana bread... d'oh and tonight is a friends birthday at a polish restaraunt...

It's so hard to keep motivated and stick to the program when there are no results.

Sigh... I guess I am just venting, back on track on Sunday morning
