| Im sorry if this offends any Coles workers but there system is rank! I went for an interview to which I was led to believe I had got the job to the point I was going to be shown when i would most prob start. They still had an interview to do but they said cant see a prob will be in contact by Friday. Well guess what Friday has come and gone so on advice fromalot of people rang them hadnt made a decision yet...ok fair enough I can understand that. Now going on 3 weeks later no word at all not even a NO you didnt get it would of been nice.....have tried to talk with someone at the recruitment centre they didnt even know I had been for an interview they were only aware of them passing on my info to the store. They do all there contact by sms or email how come they couldnt email me a rejection email even.....some companies need a good slapping!!! ok now I feel a little better would still like to mame someone only a fraction now,lol

| That is disgusting and rude - no wonder job hunters get disheartened. I hate Coles anyway! You should email to the HR dept in head office and let them know this kind of crap is going on. Mindy xxx

| Hey Barb, Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I hope it doesn't put you off from looking for other jobs or going for interviews. I think it's totally disgusting how a lot of companies these days don't bother to contact people. My Mum is currently looking for work, and she has been to several interviews, and if she didn't chase them up then she wouldn't have known what was going on. I used to work for Target, and while it's probably changed a bit since then (2 years ago), I used to have to print some of the "thanks but no thanks" type letters. Yeah they are generic, but I think the general public would at least appreciate that they got a response. Good luck with the job hunting, and I hope you have a better experience next time. And yeah, like someone said, I would write to the Coles HR Head Office or whatever and complain - cause after all... they don't know unless you tell them. Tulip.
 My mini-goal - reached 27/11/06 (week 8)

My ultimate goal

| frustrating I know. I was there almost 2 years ago. Its quite a silly process of everything I had to do just to get a job as a night filler. how much do you need to know really??? anyway I ended up having my interviews and was told yes I had the job and that I had to do an online induction. well it took about 1 and a half weeks to get the induction sent to me, did it asap cos I was keen to start working and then I was calling them every few days to find out when I was going to start working. I think it was aboput 3 weeks of waiting!! Now that I am behind the scenes and have seen it I know why it happens. because they are interviewing many people at the same times and need to wait for all to finish the inductions asap and then do the in store inductions at one time so they are not utilising the training person more than needed. stupid for us hanging by a thread but money saving tactics for the budgets in store. I am by no means defending coles though, just wanted to give you a slight insight as to what the stores stance is. I know it doesnt help as I can totally relate after applying for jobs left right and centre for over 18 months and recieving no replies from people, or a no thanks about 3 months after the application!! I know where you are coming from!! good luck though rachael

Well mum worked for coles up until about a month ago. She was originally working on checkout and someone left the office so she applied for the open position. Mum got the job. It was originally advertised as a full time position then changed to casual. Hmmmm you say. This is because the company created a new office potion that mean there would now only be ONE position for the two that existed. Mum was not told this and she took the job with pride and excitement. She was LOVING going to work. Then the lady she worked in the office with (NOT the store manager) had to tell mum she no longer had a job. This lady refused to do the new position (which included working every weekend and being on call 24/7) and as a result has to resign after 30 years with the company. Mum couldn't do the position because they were not willing to train her. So it is Poo to you coles in our family too. Big companies are getting more and more greedy and forgeting that if they want a company they have to please their staff as well Tut Tut Coles!
